I had an unanticipated stay at the Steigenberger Hotel at Frankfurt Airport in February, 2012 after a whopping 6 inches of snow shut down Heathrow in London. From the moment I stepped off the shuttle bus, I felt very fortunate to be enjoying a few hours of respite at this beautiful hotel just minutes from the airport. I stayed in the Executive Tower part of the hotel.

Pros:
* Delightful furniture and decor design in rooms and public spaces
* Extremely friendly, helpful staff -- even when crushed under the weight of dozens of stranded travelers
* Tasty food and fun atmosphere in the hotel bar/lounge/restaurant area
* Great bathroom in room: heated stone floor, separate little area for toilette, huge spray of nice hot water in the shower, and -- important -- very clean
* Wi-fi is fast (though you can have only one device logged in at a time, which is inconvenient)
* Room is quiet
* Big puffy comforter on the bed

Cons:
* None!

After my mistake of booking at Mercure, I tried Steigenberger. The location is very good (there is a gas station just off the exit for refueling rental cars before drop-off, and you can either park in the parking garage around the corner from the hotel (16-19 Euros, depending on the amount of time you are there), or you can drop the car and take a shuttle back to Steigenberger. Shuttles seem to run 24/7 with a frequency of 20 minutes or less.

You can tell by the number of flight attendants and pilots moving through the hotel that it is one of the most popular stop-over hotels. The on-airport properties are extremely expensive and regularly sold out.

I have never had time to try their breakfast or spa, but both options are there.

The rooms are small and basic, but also clean and quiet. I'll stay there again.

The hotel is on the Peripherie of Frankfurt Airport, very well Services by a Shuttle that goes every 15 Minuten. The staff are very efficient, friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms are. Modern with a clean look and very comfortable. Inspite of the proximity of the airport there is no noise thanks to excellent Soundproofing. The bakfas is wonderful and for early starters there is a continental type Served at the Bar. Hotel is None Smoking. But has smoker areas inside.
