“OK but would not stay there again; there are better alternatives”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2011

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from Frankfurt Main Station. The roads you pass on the way have a mixed atmosphere; i.e. you pass some bars etc. The check in is on one side but to get to the rooms you have to go into the building next door. Not convenient if you have a lot of luggage. The elevator is absolutely tiny! The room was very basic but very clean. Internet connection was good.

“You get what ayou pay for”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2010

You get what you pay for. As a regular visitor to Frankfurt, this hotel is always amongst the cheapest available. For slightly more money you can get much better hotels in much better locations. The hotel is located between the main railway station and the messe, although public transport is required to either. The rooms are not of a particularly high standard even those that have been renovated. The TV was small and the remote control didn't work. The shower leaked. Overall, not a good choice, even for the price. There is better elsewhere.

“great service, nice room but slightly scary street”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2010

We stayed in this hotel to be near the train station. It was a short walk to the station and during the day the street was fine, however in the evening it was alittle bit rough. We didn't have any trouble but I would suggest this hotel is not suited to single women etc...

The rooms are very nice, the bed and bathroom are comfy however there is no aircon so you are just down to the fan. It was pretty hot at night and it was noisy if you opened the window.

The staff are lovely and couldn't do enough to be helpful. The breakfast was simple but nice.

All in all it served it's purpose in being near to the train station but there were better hotels closer.

“Budget hotel with decor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 June 2010

Fair Hotel's located fairly close to Frankfurt's main train station. It appears to have been renovated recently and my room had a nice decor for the price. WiFi worked without a hitch. The only drawback is the noise. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

“Not at all like the photos!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 August 2006

Stayed here during the world cup in June, and was surprised upon arrival to see that the entrance is not at all like the one in all the photos.

We had booked a double room, but had been given a twin room, which was abolutely tiny, and the beds were round the corner from one another. I went and spoke to reception about this and they put us in a much bigger and better double room, although they were far from cheerful about this. The room itself was fine, clean and tidy. Do not, however, think that you will get a room as big as the one in the photographs with a sofa in it. The bathroom was clean, but very old, tired and small- similar to a caravan bathroom.

There were none of the extras promised eg newspaper, hairdryer, fridge etc. I suggest if you do want these to confirm them on arrival.

The room was 3 floors above the street, but was still very noisy at night, and not air conditioned.

Hotel Consul was functional, clean, close to the station, and mostly pleasant staff. If however, you are wanting to see a lot of the old town I think this hotel is too far away. The street it is on is not very nice, and I wouldn't want to walk down it or neighbouring streets by myself at night.

A good place to stay if you don't want to spend much, or won't spend much time there, but it is not luxury by any means. Fine for a night or two, but don't expect much.
