“Location, Location, Location”

The location is absolutely brilliant if you want to visit the Messe (Fair).

From the main train station (Hauptbanhof), it's two tram stops on the no 16 or 17 to Hohenstraufenstrasse--a 50 mtr walk then brings you to the hotel. Or, if you don't have heavy luggage, take the U4 underground 1 stop to Festhalle, and a 20 mtr walk later, down Rheinstrasse, you are in the Astoria. To get to the fair, simply walk right through the U Bahn underground station to the opposite side, and you come out right inside the fair grounds-very useful on a cold winter day-if you intend to go only to the fair and back, it saves you the bother of carrying warm clothing.

The room I got was the smallest ever-barely 15 sqr mtrs, including the bathroom-at 190 Euro during the fair days, it was high, particularly since the hotel is just a borderline 3 star hotel.

Breakfast, included in the tarriff, was adequate, though not lavish, Free internet was available in the conference room, or in the room via a password. The TV was small, and there was a large work table, but no safe, and a hair dryer was available on request. Parking was available behind the hotel, and there seemed to be some arrangement with the gym next door for those who were interested. There are half a dozen restaurants within walking distance on Rheinstrasse, Beethovenstrasse and Westendplatzstrasse, and a 20 minute ride on the UBahn or tram will take you to Brockenheim or Zeil where there are more shopping and dining options.

All in all, adequate and very convenient, if not luxurious.

“Good value, comfortable & convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2010

Clean, large room - quiet, in an elegant street, centrally located, but not too close to seamy part of the city near railway. Very convenient access to all the attractions of Frankfurt, with tram close by. Quite generous where it matters, no stinting on soap and toilet paper etc and the continental breakfast fine. Staff somewhat formal, but helpful when needed. Only negative, Wi fi reception in the room was bad, reported to desk, and evidently this is not unusual. Fortunately, free access to Hotel's pc available on ground floor and reasonably good wifi in the lounge area. Good value for money if booking when no conventions are on. Would stop again and recommend to others.

“clean room, friendly staff, excellent breakfast!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

my husband and I were participating in an exhibition .. and we stayed in Astoria. It was an excellent experience.

would definitely recommend to friends. one of my friend tried a few times to book a room but failed as it was fully booked. luckily that we had done it like 8 months before hand. So remember to be early planned.

“I would definitely have it again!”

I had a double room for 4 nights. Following what mentioned above re other commentors, I would say they are defenitely correct comments, like 10 mins walk within to the frankfurt main bahnhof, a quite place far fram the noisy and dirty place around the foresaide station, especially red light area, the room is very clean, safe, and with warming style of furnishings. Also, there is very nice breakfast in the morning from 6am to 10am, including but not limited to bread, cheese, ham, water-boiled egg, jelly, crackers, yogurt, juice, mineral water and milk. surely another "pot" of hot coffee for each visitors included. I will highly recommend those who are medium-budget travellers to have a stay there. Another thing needed to mention which is that there is free of charge about internet surfing in each room, but the only thing is you have to get password from reception every single day.

“Friendly/Safe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2007

This is a very nice hotel for mid-budget travellers. If you are looking for a deacent hotel next to the Messe which charges around 50 EUR, this should be your pick. Also, there is an underground station right next to the hotel which you can use to go anywhere in the city.

The hotel is close to the main train station (about 10 min walking) but it is in a safe and nice neighbourhood. I was cautious about booikng a hotel close to the main train station because I went to Frankfurt alone (single female) but Astoria ended up being a great pick.

The hotel staff was very helpful, nice and friendly. There is wireless internet (free of charge) in the rooms but also you can use a computer and the printer that the hotel has set up for the guests in a speperate (conference) room.

Breakfast was ok. Not much variety, but all basc food groups were presented and verything was fresh.

Rooms are good size for European standard.

I would definetely stay there again.
