Checked with Trip Advisor before booking and teh hotel is great. We had a room on teh first floor for our first night which was noisy, so we asked to be moved and the staff could not have been more helpful. on third floor the room was excellent and much better sound-proofed. Breakfast service was excellent as well. Only downside was forgetting some Godiva chocolate in the mini-bar which had gone by the time we realised andn returned to the hotel!

We stayed at the Hamburger Hof Hotel at the beginning of September. It has a great location right by the train station, and easy walk to downtown. It was reasonable, clean, contemporary, and friendly. We got there at 8 am, and they checked us into our room at that time. The people at the front desk and in the breakfast room could not have been nicer. Would recommend to anyone.

The hotel is located next to the Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof). Although many people complain about safety and noise issues, I didn't have any -- felt very safe walking around at night and didn't hear any disturbing noises while sleeping. The Kaiserstrasse is 2 minutes away, while the Zeil (the center of the city) is about 30 minutes away by foot. The hotel doesn't have private parking, but there are 4 paid parking lots nearby (and free parking on the street, if you can find a free spot). The staff were very helpful and kind. The buffet breakfast was great. Will definitely visit again.

Despite the staff trying to assist with every possible request, this hotel was a major disappointment. The rooms are tiny (and I was supposedly in a large room), my room had no airconditioning, just a fan, then beds and pillows were average at best and I couldn't even get an iron to my room. The iron issue was the most suprising. Appartently fire regulations restrict it, but I find that hard to believe as I've never had trouble anywhere else. I had to go down to the basement in the house keepers office to iron my shirt, ridiculous!
Breakfast was just continental and not fantastic, but with options all around the hotel, not really an issue.
The location was great though, right next to the main train station.
Would I stay there again??? Not if you paid me!
