“Good points 1 Bad points 3”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

I booked this hotel because I was attending a fair next door to the hotel. So I considered this a good idea. This is a 4/5 star hotel and I have stayed in several of this class in the past. On my arrival the reception was fine and I was given my security key for the lift, which I couldn't get to work. I asked a ported who just told me to keep trying, it still did not work and I asked for his help. He then decided I needed a new key.
Then to my room. I had booked a 'comfort' room for 1 person. This should be a large double bed on higher floor. It was on the 3rd floor with a double bed, one pillow and a single quilt? I think they were concerned I may bring someone back? I went down to the reception and requested more pillows and a larger quilt, I received pillows but no quilt, but 2 bathrobes?
In the evening I went down to their cafe for a meal, the food was okay but the service was impersonal with not 1 smile to be had.

“Good business hotel next to Frankfurt Messe”

Clean modern hotel next to Frankfurt Messe. Mostly business travellers. Nice sushi restaurant and snack bar for breakfast. Bar very dark and smoky though. Also hotel is used by aircrew so some floors a bit noisy.

“Nice but definately not worth the price”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, clean bathrooms. The room was cleaned up nicely every day. Had a Superior Room but just looked like an average hotel room with just a few small extras like bathrobe, slippers, fridge, safe, and soaps.

The Breakfast was very good scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, cheeses, croissants, bread.jam,honey.The dinner wasnt that great though to be honest beef stew type meat with plain rice, potato soup was very blant and ready made. Macaroni Salad and just some green leafs with 3 dressings. Vegetable department definately needs some work.

THey also came to fluff up and make the beds during the evening with chocolate on the pillows. Room came with a standard tv but the free channels were not much to watch. Def a channel for major languages, arabic, spanish, french, i think even pakistani wasnt sure what language it was. Internet was a rip off 28 euros a day, but our superior room had a computer in the hall and can use the business center for free downstairs. Tried to connect to the exhibition wifi which was free at the time but even at 40% wifi signal couldnt get an ip adress. i dunno if something is being blocked.

Tried the gym upstairs, there was a pool that wasnt that warm. The gym equiptment was ancient must be for sure 10-15 years old. the elliptical def seemed not ergonomical at all compared to modern equipment. Most of the treadmills didnt seem to have the modern shock absorbing. Also the cable gym equipment was definately very old no ability to adjust each persons range of motion and a begginer could definately get injured.

The bar downstairs had good staff and plenty of bar tenders making nice drinks. The dj was doing a good job trying to entice the crowd to get partying but the decoration of the bar was like a 70s bar not that crazy about it.

Def book from before if you want to go out to a restaurant since everything ends up getting packed during exhibitions.

Room Tip: Choose this hotel only if being right next to the exhibition and not having to carry coats around or...

“Check In was a desaster”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

I booked for a group of 40 as we were holding a little fair in Frankfurt. The check in lasted 2 hours - arriving at 6.00 pm and being in my hotel room at 8.00 pm - as staff were absolutely incapable - an experience we have never ever had before in any hotel. Some confirmed bookings were lost in the computer and our guests had to buy the rooms for a much higher rate. Frankfurt was one stop of a one week tour through Germany and we were quite exhausted, looking forward to a nice evening and a rest. No way - we waited in lobby trying to get our rooms allocated. I had booked a non-smoking room and received a smoking room. We got the manager involved who was able to relocate me, probably passing the problem on to the next guest.

The hotel, rooms and breakfast were quite nice, nothing wrong with that at all -however the lost 2 hours on arrival and the "lost bookings" were too much and therefore we will not use the hotel for our fair in Frankfurt again.

“Excellent Messe Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

I have been coming to the Frankfurt Paperworld Fair in January, every year since 2001 and have tried many hotels over the years, always ending up paying 150-200 euros for a medium class hotel more or less far from the fair over the years.

This year I decided to spend a bit more and try the Maritim Hotel Frankfurt / Main, which is directly connected to the Frankfurter Messe (Fair). The advantages:

• Can walk over to the Fair without a coat, meaning you save on the cloakroom and most importantly you do not have to wait for 20 minutes when everyone is trying to get their coat at the end of the day (not to mention that there are many exits to the fairgrounds and there is alsways a risk of finding oneself at the other end of the fairgrounds compared to your coat).
• Save on taxis to/from the fair.
• Allows one to come back to one's room in the middle of the day to rest or get something forgotten.

In addition I decided to book a room on the "Superior" floor which has the following advantages (compensating IMHO the extra cost):

• Free breakfast
• Free dinner including wine and spirits
• Free minibar use

Overall the hotel was comfortable, service was prompt and curteous, and the underground parking was convenient (albeit a bit crowded).

After more than 10 years of trying different hotels I believe that from now on I will stay at the Maritim Hotel Frankfurt / Main for all my future visits to the Frankfurter Messe.

Room Tip: Spend a bit more to stay on the "Superior" floor; you'll end up saving the extra cost...
