The hotel is about 20 years old and supposedly has been renovated 10 years ago. The rooms seem older. There are old TVs in the rooms and cracks in the bathroom sinks in about every room.
Also, as said in the other reviews, do not book a room on the side of the railway tracks ("standard room"). You won't be able to sleep. If the "comfort rooms" on the other side are sold out or too expensive, look for a different hotel. The comfort rooms are ok though, no noise.
That said, service and breakfast is good, as is the location.
Pros:
- close to Darmstadt main train station (walking distance about 10 minutes)
- spacious rooms (standard and comfort rooms are the same. Comfort rooms are quiet, standard rooms extremely noisy)
- close to the Deutsche Telekom office buildings
- free entrance to Body Fit fitness studio (approx. 8 min walking distance)
- good breakfast
- sauna in the hotel building
Cons:
- Do not book a standard room or you won't get a minute's sleep. The standard rooms are on the side of the railway tracks and it feels like the train goes right through your room. Book a "comfort room" instead (more expensive). Otherwise, use earplugs or choose a different hotel
- fitness area not in the hotel itself, just a very small pool (not usable for swimming)
- the whole bar is a smoking area (I thought, that was prohibited by now in Germany?)
- too expensive for what they offer, if you don't have a company rate
So, depending on what you look for, the hotel may be good or very bad.
