I stayed for four days in early December 2010, the hotel is a little dated, decor still from the 80's, smoked mirrors etc, staff were very friendly, Superior room was clean and comfortable, washroom was new. Other guests I was with indicated their rooms were not as good. I wish internet was free, 29euro for one week. Breakfast was acceptable but a little expensive at 17euro. Not a cheap hotel, probably a little overpriced but, from what I've heard, the best in Darmstadt.

I stayed at this hotel recently while visiting the university in Darmstadt. (My stay was paid for, so I do not know how much it cost.) I was given a room with two twin beds on the 11th floor, and found the room clean, big enough, and with good working space. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was fine, and the shower worked well. The breakfast (included) had a wide selection. My only complaint is the Internet, which was an additional 15 euros per day -- rather expensive! Otherwise my stay was just fine.

I recently stayed at this hotel for a 2 day trade conference.
The hotel is located approx’ 30 minutes drive from Frankfurt main airport.
The hotel itself is well past its sell-by date and well overdue for a refurbishment. Everything inside this hotel looks “very tired”. The décor the fixtures and fittings and this transposes onto the staff who I found to have, on the whole, very poor customer service.

I was greeted, if you could call it that, and provided with a room that was hot, dusty and with no air-conditioning. When I opened the sliding door to cool the room, I was met with a barrage of noise from the road below (I was 6 stories up). The hotel is located at a busy traffic intersection which also includes a tram line. So a catch 22 if I wanted a cool room. Noise or hot stuffy room.

I eventually got a room change (without any questions asked as to what the issues were and could they assist, just it was a major problem to them for me to move). The next room was less noisy and cooler (a junior suite) but the corners of the carpet in the room were black with dirt and the room was just tired and old – a good 25yrs out of date. Putting an LCD TV in the room did not make up for the shortcomings of the room.

On the positive, the restaurant food quality was fairly good and there was a wide range on selection to cater for all tastes. Service within the restaurant was the one area that was consistently ok.

I lot of delegates did complain about how stuffy the conference rooms had been and I had noticed a lot of people coughing during the presentations. I knew a significant number of these people and they were not ill with coughs and cold, as would be expected for this time of year. I think this is just down to the rooms being hot dusty and stuffy.

Overall, very poor indeed. I certainly will be avoiding this hotel.

This hotel most likely used to be state of the art. The standard rooms are however getting old and the entire building seems a bit outdated.

However, this is Germany and four stars, which mean that you get what you need: Clean and quite rooms a good restaurant and relaxing facilities - the pool and sauna area is probably what would make me return here when going back to Darmstadt.
