I was travelling with my three sons so wanted a cheap clean hotel near the centre of Hamburg. A&O is a hostel style hotel so rather basic but clean with large rooms and 3 underground stops away from the centre of Hamburg. Good breakfast for 4 euro. Rather pricey for what it is but I was there for a major football final and unknown to me it was a public holiday in Hamburg so the town was busy and prices are probably cheaper at other times. Would recommend if you're looking for cheap, clean basic accommodation, but shop around for prices.

I stayed at the hotel on the 15/01 and 16/01. I'd read the reviews and wasn't completely sure whether to book or whether to spend more to get something better. As it turns out , it was fine. The room (a twin even tho I'd booked a single) was big enough,there was hardly any noise from the main road outside, the room was clean and the towels changed daily. Contrary to some peoples comments, I found the receptionists very helpful. The only negative is that the directions on one site were wrong. As you get to the top of the stairs exiting the station, it's behind you, not in front. To sum up, I'd be happy to stay there again.

Nice little hotel. Very spartan, no fuss, no luxury. A place to sleep cheaply, nothing more. But clean and a friendly reception. Overall rating based on price, not luxury!

The hotel is not in the city centre but there is a subway station nearby. The neighbourhood looked safe and nice.

The rooms are clean, and remind me of a student's dorm. You can even close the lockers (they're not really closets) in the room with a padlock if you have one. My room had a huge window that overlooked the street.

I had a (small) ensuite bathroom; the sink was in the main room and the shower and the toilet were in the bathroom.

There's a Lidl shop (opens from 8-20 h) just outside the hotel where you can buy food if you want. The rooms don't have a fridge, by the way.

The breakfast was ok for me, but some people would appreciate more food to choose from.

The staff was nice and they speak English if you don't.

The airport is about 20 min from the hotel, but a taxi might take some time to get to the hotel (depending on the events on the city at the time).

Good value and I think it's a great hotel for groups of young people (they have rooms for 4 people).
