This privately owned hotel is located in the ground and second floors of an art noveau house (built in the 1890's) right opposite the university of Hamburg and very close to Dammtor station. The floor in between used to be student housing, but is now empty and converted into another hotel floor. Each room is different, but they all have very high ceilings. Windows are really old with wooden frames and single glazing, and I imagine it could be a problem to heat the room in the winter, because the windows do not shut very tightly. My room (18), a double, was very large and colorful. Red carpet, yellow walls. Furniture seemed to by from IKEA. No desk, just a small, very low table.
Very small bathroom. There is also at least one 4-bed family room on the ground floor.
Beautiful breakfast room and the usual German breakfast selection.
It is not a business hotel, but a very nice change for a traveller from the usual chains.
