Stayed in room 435 from the 20th to the 23rd. The location of the hotel may be a problem if you want to be right in the centre. However for us it was an ideal choice.
The 172 bus from Zone C at the airport drops you off 50 metres from the hotel. (2.50 euros each). The hotel is also only 3 minutes from the Metro with regular trains to all the tourist attractions. (LIne U3 Saarlandstrasse)
The hotel is also very close to Stadpark for walking & boating.
Hamburg is not cheap for hotels so for the budget traveller 82 euros for a double without breakfast is not excessive.
Regarding the room, conpact is the phrase that comes to mind. This room contained a shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin. The bathroom is very small and could not hold two people at once.
The room itself was small but very clean with two twin beds, safety deposit & pay per view tv. There was also no air conditioning which could be a problem in the summer.
The area does not hold too much other than the odd coffee shop & ice cream parlour, however a five minute walk or one stop on the metro to Barmbek will take you to some good bars & restaurants.
Breakfast 6.50 euros is the usual array of ham, cheese and cereals.
