One night visit to this hotel which is about 30 minutes outside of the main centre of Hamburg. Great reception from the driver at the airport who also becomes a food and beverage manager at one of the restuarants! Seems as if the team have to multi-task at this boutique property,
We had one of the two main suites in the hotel (room 12 I think) and it was made up of a separate bedroom, living area and entry hall. Colours were very subdued and comfortable. We were spoiled with a welcome bottle of champagne and some chocolates. Only thing they good improve is the size of the TV, granted they are B&O and look beautiful but they are very small and some distance away. The colour scheme continued through the rest of the suite and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. Bathroom was a good size but the bath (with shower above) was very narrow.
Had dinner in the Michelin starred restaurant and enjoyed a beautiful degustation menu with true silver service - nothing like the dramatic synchronised lifting of silver cloches! Wine service was generous and we had the best table with a wonderful view.
Make sure you check out the ballroom and walk up to the top of the tower for the views if you get a chance - both are stunning!
The service really hit a high on check out when the gentlemen whoc was on reception became our driver. Nothing was too much trouble. He took us into the centre of Hamburg (including a bit of a pre-tour by him) and then was happy to come back to pick us up to take us to the airport (we of course paid for all of this but the ease of organising this was fantastic).
The hotel is a little way out of town but great for a special retreat.
