“very poor quality accommodation for over inflated price”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

Fabric of the building and rooms was atrocious. The carpet of the first room was old disgusting and the smell of the room was foul. Not even industrial cleaning could have improved it.

I was moved to a room supposed to be a suite of a higher standard which was not much better. Whilst in bed I could smell rising damp in the walls.

Although the staff were friendly and very apologetic I had the poorest response from the Holiday Inn customer care centre.

The price was over inflated for the quality of the accommodation. This was the least value for money I have ever experienced for hotel stay.

“Stag Stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

We stayed at this hotel to celebrate my stag weekend last May.

Check in was smooth given there was 12 rooms. Staff were professional.

There was a nice small bar but the opening hours were short, think it closed before mid-night. However, this made no odds to us as we were out sampling the Hamburg nightlife until the hourly hours anyway!

Facilities are good with a nice pool and the rooms were comfortable.

Also, there is a good driving range just a couple of hundred meters up the road from the hotel.

Hotel is a little outside the city centre but a 10min taxi ride would get you right into the heart of the action!

Would recommend.

“Conveniant location, clean & accomodating staff.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

1 overnight, found hotel well located next to Hamburg entry road. Clean rooms, good bathroom excessories. Receptaion staff friendly & polite. Rooms little dated. Stayed on 16th floor, with full heating room remainded "rather" cold during the night. Breakfast is good and reseanable choice. Surrounding area is not great though does not appear dangerous. Parking under hotel at cost but worth to check the surrounding area for free parking space (during the night, not the day!)

Room Tip: Good view over city on higher floors. Watch for cold room, check with reception if problem.

“does what it says on the tin..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

before my review i'd like to let people know how to get to the hotel by public transport which is very cheap and very efficient, from the airport you take the train to "Hauptbahnhof" which is Hamburg's central station, it cost's 2.80 euro for a single ticket, the machine's which dispense tickets can be a bit confusing but you need a greater Hamburg ticket to travel from the airport to the city, from Hauptbahnhof train station you need to walk to the bus station which is next door to the train station or if you come out the wrong side and see a huge store called "Saturn" you can cross the road and take the bus from there, you take the 120 or the 124 to "Billhomer Mühlenweg", the bus takes about 10 minutes from the city and costs 1.80 euro, each stop is announced and displayed on the bus information system so it's just a case of waiting 'til it says "Billhomer Mühlenweg", besides that you can see the hotel as you approach it on the bus, the bus service is excellent, even at night, day tickets and 3 day tickets can be bought on the ticket machine's in the station and can be used on both the train and the bus, the hotel is about a 200m walk from the bus stop, on the corner of Billhomer Mühlenweg there is a lovely cafe/bar called "Alt Deutsche Kuche" which means "Old German Kitchen", it is worth a visit as the food was delicious and very reasonable.
Now to the hotel, yes agreed it's not the best location for the city centre but it is only about 1.8 miles away and Hamburg is a very big city, so don't let that put you off, as i've said the transport system is excellent, we found the hotel to be of a good standard, the staff where friendly and polite, the bar was good, the room was clean & tidy with fabulous views down to Hamburg harbour where the Queen Mary 2 sits in dry dock, we really couldn't find fault with the hotel, it really was a pleasant stay, that's why my review states "it does what it says on the tin", because it does.
I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to friends and family without hesitation.
