I stayed in this hotel with my Mum in July, as I'm going over to spend my Year Abroad from uni in Hamburg at the end of this month and I wanted to see what the city was like. We wanted a hotel near to the city centre but not right in the middle, and also somewhere fairly small, as we weren't on a business trip like the rest of the people on our plane and didn't need anywhere corporate, and this hotel was ideal. I read up on the area a bit - St. Georg - and it hadn't had a lot of good press. There are some sex shops on the road nearby, but you can avoid them easily enough. It's about a 5-10 minute walk from the main station, which is handy for absolutely everywhere: lots of S-Bahns and U-Bahns to choose from. It's also very close to the Alster, which was lovely. The hotel was very nice, very clean. The room was fairly small, (the hotel itself isn't massive) but if you're not going to be spending much time in there then the size is fine. The en suite was lovely, very clean and modern looking. The staff were very friendly - when we arrived, someone at the front desk was pointing out the sights to another traveller on one of the maps they hand out for free. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel- but it's easy enough to get something from one of the kiosks in the Hauptbahnhof. We stayed for three nights, and really enjoyed ourselves!
