I just returned home from a 10 days stay in Hamburg. This time at the Best Western Queens Hotel and I must say I was truly Impressed with the wonderfully nice staff at this hotel. On my last trip to Hamburg I stayed closer to down town at a "NH" hotel and every request I made to the staff was greeted with an answer of "NO".. Here at the Queens they were extremely nice and made my stay very pleasant. The recommendations the staff made for restaurants around this Business area hotel were spot on. Another bonus is the Rubenkamp "S" Bahn (above ground train) station is only a 10 minute walk and you can get to anywhere in Hamburg quickly from there.. The rooms are a bit small but the outstanding breakfast more than made up for that. Internet might be expensive (My room it was included). If your staying North of Hamburg this hotel deserves a look..

We chose this hotel as it gave the option of parking the car for 2 weeks at the hotel and transport to the airport was included. This all worked perfect. The hotel was clean and the personnel was friendly and helpful. We did not try the breakfast as we were travelling very early. The bar was expensive. There is not much around the hotel to see or do, but that was not the purpose of our visit.

Comfortable enough hotel but they tried to charge us for a breakfast we didn't have. The deal was 'room only' so we expected to pay for breakfast (€16.00 each). When we checked out they said we'd have to pay for breakfast on the last day even though we did not have it. The receptionist claimed we should have been told that if we didn't want breakfast we'd have to tell them the night before. We weren't told when we checked in, there was no mention of this in the room literature and nothing on our booking details. Faced with our refusal to pay they reluctantly agreed to waive the fee.

Also they charge for parking €9.00 overnight. TIP: park in the adjacent streets to avoid this charge, but make sure you park legally.

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of June 2008. We had a 'Comfort Room' with a queen bed on the 4th floor overlooking the main entrance and parking lot at a rate of 73Euro per night.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We incorrectly assumed the hotel was airconditioned, and were advised otherwise at checkin. To our surprise when returned to the room later in the evening we found the staff had brought a fan for our use. This was greatly appreciated.

We speak no german, but found little trouble communicating in english with the front desk staff.

The location was great, very close to a major park. As we travelled by car, we cannot comment on bus/metro connections.
The area is not as congested as downtown, yet the proximity to central Hamburg is good.

The layout of the hotel is 'weird'. It appears to be an old series of apartments renovated into one hotel. Although there are elevators not all floors of all the sections are reachable. For example, our room was on the 4th floor, we had to take the elevator to the 3rd floor and take a flight of stairs up. This is not that complicated but can be a hassle with large luggage, or a wheelchair.

Overall, we would definately stay at this hotel again. We found this hotel to be a great value, compared to others in the area we looked at.
