The Terminus hotel is approx. 300metres from Hamburg Central rail station. As we were a party of 4 adults with considerable baggage this was important. We were able to trolley our bags to the hotel without any problems.

The hotel provided a room with 4 single beds with private bathroom. As we were only there for 2 nights this was adequate. A good breakfast was provided in the main breakfast room.
An elevator is available but does not go to all floors. Our room was on the second floor and the elevator went to the 3rd floor which meant we had to carry our bags down to our room. The elevator must come from the last century but is OK.
The local residences appear to be mainly Turkish or Arabic and the area is very dirty. The street is cleaned every day early morning but by mid afternoon it is dirty again.
The hotel has very good security with CCCV camera at the from door and code to enter the hotel.
There is also a laundromat close by which is good for travellers.
Hamburg is a great city and well worth a visit. If so then track down the free walking tour of Hamburg, very good.

It is hard to give a fair review of this hotel. What do you expect of a double room at 60 euro, just in the middle of the city ? Breakfast included. The hotel shows absolutely no luxury. It has a very modest entrance, just a door surrounded by sex- and kebabshops. Still not frightening area to walk in. Reception in 1. floor, up a narrow stair or a tiny lift.. Location very close to Hauptbahnhof is very good. The room was clean and the bed good. Very little street noise at our stay (thursday night). Bathroom about 1,6 x 1.6 metres gave the minimum of space for a toilet, sink and shower. Breakfast was ok with you need. So the conclusion is "OK for a night or two". I recommend it on conditions.

Me and 6 other mates stayed in this hotel, in triple rooms & one single room. The rooms were on the small side but the beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean. For us the location was perfect, about a minute's walk from the train station, and a 15 minute walk to the beautiful town hall/city centre (there are buses everywhere near the hotel if you're not a keen walker). Breakfast was included and as a vegetarian I thought it was good, my meat-eating mates weren't as satisfied however. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the only real problem we had was when we returned to the hotel late one night (around 1am) it took about 15 minutes for someone to buzz us in and reception had left our keys on the desk, where anyone could have gotten to them. So if you're planning a late night, maybe let reception know. There were fairly decent restaurants nearby and get yourself to the Viking Bar around the corner because we had the greatest time there!

We stayed in a triple room at terminus's sister hotel- Lumen. Whilst the staff were fine and the breakfast also fine it did little to make up for the surroundings and minimalism of the hotel. At E90 a night (add on 10 euros per night for parking) for a triple room I would expect to be able to move around a little. It was incredibly small with see-through, holey curtains that lit the room at 5am. There was also a foul smell of cigarettes drifting into the room constantly.
The most upsetting thing about this place is that I am a twenty something female and the area was inaundated with pimps and prostitutes (directly outside the hotel door). I was travelling with my parents and when walking with my dad felt incredibly uncomfortable and was approached as soon as I left the hotel door. (I look fairly respectable!). If you don't mind spending decent money to stay next to sex shops and the atmostphere they bring I guess you should stay here.
