Very small room which doesnt really feels clean. Old interior , carpet and and old bath.

We didnt try the breakfast since it didnt really seems to be worth the 11 euro they charged for it.

on the + side it was free internet

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights between 7th - 10th December 2008 and had a triple room. We had an enjoyable stay there, it was centrally located and offered good value for money.

Rooms:
They were a little snug, but nicely decorated and clean, we had a triple room so had a little extra room which was nice. We had a car park facing room which in hindsight was preferred to the front of the building which faced the rail line.

Breakfast:
This can be purchased for 11 Euro per person and looked very nice, we did not bother as you can get free tea and coffee in the room and the bakery is a 2 minute walk away and I preferred to go out and buy some food and take it back to the room to eat.

Facilities:
Free intrenet access in the main bar, free tea and coffee available via reception. the receptionist spoke OK english but if you can make the effort it would help.

On the whole the location was a 2 minute walk from the main Altona station where you could get to most parts of the city from.

I stayed at the Best Western Raphael Altona during July 2008. It's about a 200 yard walk from Altona train station, and thus easily accessible when arriving and moving around the city via the S-Bahn. Service is polite and the room clean and of adequate size, although breakfast is not included and will cost you seven euros extra per day.

The only potential downside during hot weather is that the rooms aren't air conditioned. Fair enough, you're not paying a great deal but even Premier Inn have air conditioning as standard now. Whilst in a quiet setting this wouldn't be a problem - you could just open the window - rooms on the front of the hotel will suffer, as the street outside is cobbled and thus passing traffic makes a lot of noise. That's just one downside to what is an excellent hotel.

We spent three nights at this hotel on a short break in Hamburg.
When we arrived we were told the hotel was overbooked and we were directed to the 2* hotel next door which had the same owners.
We were very disappointed with what we were offered and were considering looking elsewhere when we were called by the gentleman on the desk who asked us to go to another room in the main hotel.
This turned out to be a suite which was great and had just about the most comfortable hotel bed I've slept in.
It's a pity we weren't offered that room in the first instance as it wasn't our fault the hotel had overbooked.
We really enjoyed our stay in Hamburg. The weather was fabulous. I would definately recommend a boat trip on the Elbe and a stroll around Alster lakes.
The Reeperbahn is a bit seedy but is a great experience especially on a Saturday night.
Altona is an ideal location in Hamburg. Buy a Hamburg Card and you can use all the public transport. S and U Bahn services are frequent and run untill the early hours.
