“There are much better hotels in Hamburg...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2010

Stayed in this hotel for a couple of nights as it seemed the only one I could get a room in, something to do with the boat show at the Messe apparently.

The rooms are supposed to be refurbished but mine was looking a little tired. As others have commented, no pictures, just plain walls. The room was small-ish but OK for what I needed.

There is no room service or restaurant at this hotel, so the evening I arrived I went to the Italian across the road that reception recommended. Please don't bother unless you like curry, the owners are Indian and my pizza tasted of curry.

The internet access is free in the lobby, but in the rooms it is 10.70 euros for 24 hours. Not too bad except that its painfully slow - they claim 256kbit/s but I never got anything near that rate.

The room faced onto the main road and although not really noisy, there was a background traffic noise all the time. And with no air conditioning it must be bad in summer - at least in November I could turn the radiators off (it was far too hot when I arrived).

All of this may be just about excusable, were it not for the rate: 295 euros for 2 nights including breakfast. Considering the week before I'd stayed in the (much nicer) Mercure for about half the price, I shan't be going back to this hotel.

“Tiny rooms”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

As mentioned by other hotel guests the single rooms are refurbished but tiny and without any wall decorations. The bathrooms are at the level of the IBIS chain - there is no place at all and one harsh fluorescent tube is all the light you get. Terrible. The people at the reception are friendly but prefer to speak German. Web-access is 10,7 EUR/day and breakfast 16 EUR - add those and you might find other hotels being a better value.

“NH means Great Choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 September 2010

I found this hotel while surfin' the web and I founf out a special summer rate. The rooms were absolutely comfortable, clean and suitable for a family travellin' with kids. There's no restaurant in the hotel, even if there's a breakfast room with a really polite staff (breakfast a bit expensive but it is "All you can eat"). However, there are a couple of interesting restaurant not far from the hotel (The R&B and another which I don' remember...).

The NH is not far from city center (if you like to walk) and it's located between two u-bahn stations (Schlump and Kristuskirche) so, ten minutes and you're in town!

What else? We had a truly great time there.

“Good location but small rooms”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2010

The NH Norge hotel is very well located. Close to two metro stations, the Messe and the Schanzenviertel. However, it is in front of one of a main road and it can be quite noisy if you have a room to the street.
The hotel facilities are good, modern and very clean. The only negative point I have is the size of the rooms. Some of them are too small for a couple. They do not have a real wardrobe, just some hungers.
They have plenty of price offers for weekend trips, young people or +60 people. Check their webpage before making a booking. They do not offer these prices through the normal booking pages.

“Be wary if it's hot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2010

The overall impression of the hotel is very good. We travelled as part of a very large group and check-in was a very smooth affair. All room keys were pre-prepared and we were just required to sign and collect a key. This avoided huge delays in check-in with the collection of details etc. UK hotels - sit up and take note!

The bar was small. but comfortable. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant so I am unable to comment. The room was large and well equipped, with a good selection of toiletries in the bathroom etc. A well stocked mini bar and snack selection were also available. My room faced out towards the road and unfortunately some work is being undertaken outside the hotel - some form of resurfacing. The work started early in the morning and this was disturbing as the windows of the room had to be wide open. Reason? No air conditioning. Now, I don't spend enough time in Hamburg to comment, but the weather was in the mid 30's (celsius) and very humid. This made the room quite unpleasant to stay in. Due to the humidity, even having the windows wide open didn't calm the air in the room and it was almost impossible to sleep or relax with any degree of comfort. For a hotel of this standard of decor throughout, this is a major oversight and needs addressing. This was the only slight on an otherwise very good stay.

The breakfast was the usual buffet affair. A great selection of breads, cold meats, cooked food etc was available. Nicely prepared and very fresh. Nice juices and fresh coffee served to the table too.

The location is subjective with all of these places. Cabs are very reasonable in Hamburg as the city is not that large. But, this is a perfectly reasonable, well decorated and well staffed hotel. I would have no hesitation in staying here again should the need arise.
