At the weekend they serve breakfast until noon which I think is enormously civilised and I would encourage governments to draft this is as a legal obligation for hotels the world over. That apart, the buffet breakfast was only adequate. Not fabulous but certainly not the worst breakfast I've ever had. Decent juice and tea but let down by a poor selection of bread.
If you are looking for a value break in Hamburg then this hotel will do fine. The location isn't great but it's only 2 stops down the S-Bahn from the main station and we got a taxi out there from the main station for 11 Euros. The area may look a little run-down but it's perfectly safe and well lit. That said, if I was travelling alone then I probably wouldn't get the S-Bahn after dark because the S-bahn station is a brisk 10 minute walk from the hotel. There are several exits from the S-bahn so it can be slightly disorientating on return to work out which direction you want. This may have been exacerbated by an evening of enthusiastic beer drinking.
One of the things that was very impressive was what good value the food and drink was in the hotel. Admittedly they have to work hard to get you to eat there because of aforementioned location but we arrived late on the Friday evening and had a plate of smoked salmon with a baked potato and sour cream for an impressive 7.50 euros and bottle of perfectly drinkable house wine for 15 euros. I've stayed in worse places that have tried to push far worse wine for a lot more money.
Our room was a standard room - good size, very comfortable bed and the only thing to let it down was the bathroom had only a shower. However, good value for Hamburg (we paid 91 euros for a double room including breakfast)
