The hotel and room was nice, but beware if you're staying on the ground floor by the reception! Other reviewers haven't commented on this, so guess it must just be the ground floor. The cleaners were crashing and banging extremely early in the morning. I had ear plugs in (am always prepared!) and even then the banging was terrible and woke me up. We heard the preparation of breakfast also. I've stayed in many hotels which have been noisy (very few are quiet!), but think this beats them all really. I wasn't there on business and do not want to be woken with a fright at 5am, 6am, 7am. We stayed only 2 nights, thankfully. If it were longer, I would have asked for a different room. We didn't try the breakfast, but after a glance at it, it didn't look worthy of 10 Euro per person. They set it up for 6am and its all left there till 11:00am, so it gets dried out etc.
We had our breakfast (gorgeous fresh bread rolls & cakes) at Cafe Allee, which I would like to reccommend. The ladies are wonderful in there and so friendly and helpful. Its on the right hand side, heading towards Altona Station, just a few mins walk from Hotel Stephan. We filled up in there for 11 Euro's for both of us.
