The hotel is passably good and located centrally, view over a back alley possibly to be expected in a centre of town hotel. Bizarre garage system.

What really gripped me was that I wanted to cancel my room and gave two days notice. Mainly because the drive between the hotel and where I was working was intense. Drivers in Hamberg are insane. when I went to do so I was confronted by an 80% cancellation fee which is pretty outragous. I am led to believe that this is the policy across the board in Novum Hotels. Consequently I will NEVER be booking into a Novum hotel again.

Not businessman friendly

This hotel has good and bad points. I will start with the good:
staff friendly and helpful. Good breakfast provided with plenty to choose from including eggs. Car parking was easy as it is under the hotel with the cost being 12Euro. The hotel is in a good location, down a small side street just off the main drag. It is no more than a 5 m inute walk to the train station, shops and restaurants. The BAD: no airconditioning, the room was so small it had a double bed hard up against the wall while only one person can stand next to the bed on the other side...no room. My husband and I could not stand at the foot of the bed together comfortably and we are not big people. The b athroom was also tiny and out of date. Based on the size of the room, I would not recommend this hotel.

We have booked this hotel through www.hamburg-tourism.de on Nov 29th, 2009 for a one night's stay on Dec 3rd, 2009 INCLUDING OUR ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER AND CREDIT CARD DETAILS. We received a confirmation the same day, including the information to tell the hotel if you intend to arrive after 6 p.m.
We sent the hotel an e-mail on Dec 2nd at 8.28 p.m to say we would arrive at approx. 9 p.m. the following day.
After a long day's work and journey we were glad to find the hotel as I had to prepare for an important job interview the following day.
But the receptionist then informed us that our room was passed on to someone else but we could have a much more expensive room at a sister hotel. Their reason for giving away our room was that we didn't reply to an e-mail asking AGAIN for our credit card details later (8.48 p.m.) on the evening of Dec 2nd. No attempt to contact us by telephone.

My boyfriend and I stayed at Eleazar Novum for 3 nights during October. We both found the hotel very nice and our room was quite comfortable. It was new, clean and quiet. The breakfast was very good and and was very varied. The location is perfect - 200m from the central station. On the other side of the station you reach the shopping area and by walking 5 minutes you reach the townhall and Alster area.
The staff was very polite and helpfull. And it was definitely a plus that we were able to store our bags at the hotel both the day we arrived and also after check-out.
We would definitely stay there again another time..
