Clearly, the rates are cheap here at the Ibis and so don't except 5 star, but for the price and location this place is a definite hotel to consider. I was luckly enough to book directly online with the hotel at the time of a special and got a room for 59 euro per night. The room was modestly furnished, bathroom was clean and functional.

The hotel is perfectly located for easy walking to the main shopping street, to the main railway station and is close to lots of restaurant and bar options. The Rathus is about a 10-15 minute walk (not as far as we thought) so we didn't use public transport at all during our stay.

There is parking right underneath the hotel for 10 euro per day.

We would definitely stay here again if we decide to revisit Hamburg.

Just around the corner from the christmas markets and the main centre of Hamburg... Also just a short stroll from the train station. My only gripe was the most uncomfortable beds! Might seem a very trivial comment but really didn't sleep well, like sleeping on a flat plant of wood. Aside of that great!

We enjoyed our first stay at IBIS Hamburg Alster very much. You really get value for money and the atmosphere is very good, especially at the restaurant and the lobby. The bed is very good and the room and bathroom are very clean. Breakfast is excellent with good service.

The Hotel has a good location and only 5 mins walk to the main train station which leads directly into the city center. The Hotel is functional and staff and courteous and helpful.
The rooms at the back are close to the main train tracks and so it can be noisy during the night. The price is a little over the top for the quality but I choose it because of its location.
