I booked a weekend stay through a special promotion with Accor chain. They should be ashame of this 'hotel' and shall not list it as their member!
We arrived around 6 pm after a long trip by car and waited more than 30 minutes for check-in. Not a pleasant start! I pre-paid our stay, so the receptionist gave me the invoice and the key. I was shocked when we arrived to the room! The lack of refurbishment was one thing, I was expecting it based on the previous reviews, but an odd small was something extra on top.
The room was extremely cold, all the radiators were turned off and there was not hot water! I called downstairs and the lady said they are aware of the situation in this room and I shall calm down. Maybe she should have informed me upon arrival, or not? We waited for awhile and since nothing happened we went downstairs to the reception. Only then she explained to me that there is no hot water in the whole building and in some parts no heating is available! I was curious if they really thought the guests simply do not take a shower and enjoy the chilly room in a winter month! What did they think when are we going to figure it out? I asked if she knows when this will be sorted out or whether there is anything she can offer. The answers were simply no and no. I got so mad that insisted on a refund and wanted to leave immediately. The receptionist said whatever, asked for my credit card and refunded the already paid amount. You could see on her face that she really does not care about a thing and this made me even more angry. I asked her if she could recommend us another hotel..silence...There was a 'business centre' where I thought I will be able to take a look on some websites..guess what: the computer did not work!
For your own good, please do not stay at this place! It will ruin your experience with Bremen, which is a lovely city otherwise. We were lucky, because we found an awesome hotel within an hour.The funniest thing was that we met a couple of other guests at the reception area of the other/new hotel. Looks like nobody was a fan of Mercure's 'service' and their lack of interest in their guests' comfort.
Room Tip: Just simply book another hotel! You will regret if you stay here!
