“A very good proposition if you are not looking for luxuries”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 March 2011

I travelled to Berlin for business and stayed in Europa City for 3 nights. A decent, clean hotel in general with a spacious room and bathroom. There is nothing extravagant but for someone who wants a nice shower in the morning followed by a good breakfast before you go to work (or site seeing) and a clean bed for a good sleep at night, this is a hotel that 'does what it says on the tin' and at a very good value for money.
WiFi in the rooms does not work but the hotel people may go out of their way to help if you are at the lobby. One night I had to work till 2 o'clock in the morning and the kept their breakfast room lights on for me, offered me several times (free) coffee and generally were very helpful.
The receptionists were not always smiling (which may be cultural) but were very very efficient and helpful.
I was impressed with their taxi system. When a guest asks for a taxi they press a button and the taxi is there in less than 3 minutes!
Breakfast is rich and with a good choice.
The hotel is well located between two underground stations (different lines) giving you some good alternatives to travel around the city.
I was surprised with comments read here about the location. The hotel is located only a few hundred meters away from the Mecca of shopaholics: the Kurfürstendamm, known locally as the Ku'damm, one of the most famous avenues in Berlin with all the fashion designer shops that one can imagine.
Final point, the elevator can become quite tricky especially in the rush hour of the morning 08.30-09.00. It is small and very slow and if people are leaving all together you may have to wait for quite some time for it.
Bottomline: If you want to spend a few days in a decent hotel near the centre of Berlin at a very reasonable cost and you are not asking for glamour, this is the one for you!

“Reasonable but needs more upgrading.”

Stayed for 2 nights on our first visit to Berlin. Tricky to find main entrance as upgrade work being done requiring directions to another door. Initially we had doubts about this hotel as had reasonably heavy luggage and were offered no physical assistance -but found the most antiquated small lift we have ever seen! However amazingly it worked. Had diffuculty unlocking the door to our room with again a very antiquated key and lock, which also seemed very insecure from the inside so actually placed a suitcase against the door at night. The room itself was fresh clean and tidy with a small balcony overlooking street. Comfortable bed. Breakfast good.
A major downside was a large school group from? Scandinavia who created mayhem overnight both nights we were there - shouting thumping slamming doors moving furniture around (on the floor above us) so much so that fittings in our room shook. That went on until after 0200 and no one appeared to do anything about it.

“nice stay but not in a very interesting area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2010

The room was very nice, clean and roomy, and clearly was renewed lately. it has no fridge and no safety-deposit box and that was frustrating. As well, there was no AC but we could manage. The hotel's breakfast was very good.
The staff includes those who were more helpful and those who were challenged to speak English.
For those of you who expect to find wild, young nightlife, clubs etc. by the hotel- there is no. there are several small and nice pubs, occupied mostly by elders. we heard a cab to the east side (the more smashing area) can be expensive, and metro ends at 1 am :(

“Decent hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 August 2010

Decent hotel, although it's not really in a very bustling or happening area of Berlin. It is in the nicer area of Berlin, which is great. However, nightlife is a good 20-30 Euro cab ride away, if you're not prepared to take the metro. Lots of great restaurants around the place though. Staff weren't particularly nice but still helped you out, although at times I didn't feel very welcomed. Hotel itself has a special charm about it; rooms are decently sized, with comfy beds. Rooms get VERY warm during the day. Overall, very decent hotel considering the price. Recommended for people who don't want to stay in a hostel, but don't want to fork out hundreds of Euros for a stunning hotel.

“Nice hotel - Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

I liked this hotel. It has a good location and staff was friendly and nice. It is good value for a 3-star in Berlin and you have plenty of restaurants near by. It has no bar, but there are bars nearby and I never like hotelbars anyway. Rooms were clean and the beds comfortable.
