I stayed in the Meininger City Hostel this past weekend and had a fantastic time there. It's very good value, very clean, helpful reception staff, free wifi, and slap bang in the middle of everything. It is directly opposite a U-Bahn station (only two stops to Alexanderplatz) and close to all the bars, restaurants and attractions of Prenzlauer Berg and Mitte. We stayed in one of the superior rooms, which at only a fraction more cost gave us a neat little balcony and a bit of extra space. Overall, I will definitely stay here again and I can't wait for my next trip to Berlin.

Pros: location, staff, the shower pressure (had the most satistfying shower ever!)
Cons: one negative, my one and only pillow was quite flat. Needs one extra or better quality.

I picked up this hostel/hotel due to its location and price but did not expect any hotel quality. But ... in fact this is quite a decent small hotel, I must say (if we ignore typical young hostel guests). The room is big, with TV and private bathroom.The internet is not free in the room but available free of charge in the lobby. I will try to find a good deal to stay there again (the price seems to be varied according to the day of the week).

The hostel in Senefelderplatz Berlin-Prenzlauerberg is good located for a visit to Berlin, it's near the touristic places but at the same time is in a quite street.
The price is very good, specially if you are renting a room to share with your friends and your about 5 or 6.
On the other hand the quality is not as good as in other hostels of the same chain, as the rooms are small and the furniture is not in the best conditions. But if you're a young traveler and it's just for a few days it's worth it!
The only real complain I have about the place is the service. The lady at check in didn't even smile for a second and her level of english was quite limited, but luckily two of us spoke german pretty good. All the other times we went to the reception to ask for something the situation was similar. In my opinion young people working in a young hotel should be more extrovert and helpful.

This was a reasonably priced hotel room in a combined hostel/hotel. My room was on one of the floors with hotel rooms. It was quiet with the double pane windows closed, otherwise there could be street noise. The room was extremely large, as was the bathrom. The breakfast was acceptable, but strictly cold items only. It also had an active atmosphere, with numerous young people staying there. The lounge in the lobby was typically filled with teenagers, mostly Germans. Young families with children also stayed here.

This was a great location in the former East Berlin, literally <100 feet from a subway exit. If you are comfortable using S-Bahn or U-Bahn, this is an easy location to reach.
