When a school history trip to Berlin came around, I guess a hotel was needed.
The school booked us into this cosy quaint hotel. We needed to keep our costs down, so the cost was lower, which seems to create a very good value hotel. The location is very good, as we were directly opposite from a U-Bahn. Internet connection in the rooms costs extra, however, it's free in the lobby. Speaking of the lobby, it is probably too small, especially with the vast majority of guests being, like we were, students on a school trip. The staff seemed OK, though could be seen as rude sometimes.
There were 4 of us to our room, which was less than what could have fitted in the room. The rooms have a TV, and a private bathroom, which was very well kept. The beds themselves were comfy, but could have been less firm if I was to be picky. Pillows were very inadequate though, could barely tell if there was on.
However, the fatal flaw of this hotel was its food services. I don't think terrible does it justice. The food was shoddy quality (near tasteless chicken for example), and the restaurant was far too small, couldn't sit down at breakfast and had to eat in the lobby. Also, the lack of cutlery meant having to butter a bread roll with a spoon, and eat fruit salad out of a glass. My friend even had to eat chicken with just a knife and spoon. Unbelievable. Got to the point where it was beyond funny. I would recommend catching the underground and going to Alexanderplatz to eat.
Overall, good value, but the food lets it down. I guess I could compromise though, as I did have a nice stay here.
