To underscore the review below (as the response from the guesthouse is misleading, in my opinion), we booked a room online and received confirmation that we would receive a double bed. Unfortunately, the guesthouse also sent us another confirmation containing a tiny ambiguous reference to "double bed o 2 single beds comfort", which, had we seen it, would merely have made us believe that we were getting the double bed referred to.

When we raised this query on the second day of our stay, I actually found the response from the man in the attached cafe slightly intimidating. Certainly not a proper customer-service attitude, and no attempt at an apology, or even a desire to understand what could have gone wrong.

The room was the size of a postage stamp, with sub-halls-of-residence decor, albeit modern.

On the positive side, the man who served us breakfast in the cafe was very friendly, and at least the horrible room gave us an excuse to get out and see the city.

Booked a double room, which was confirmed by email - as double room confirmed. Received a confirmation pdf which had double room stated in capital letters. We arrived and had a tiny room with two single beds. When we complained, they said that it was in the small print that we would get a double or two single beds. Looking back we found this in the bottom of the confirmation way after it said DOUBLE BED. The small print says "- double bed o 2 single beds comfort". The manager was also v surly when we questioned it. Great location but not the accommodation.

What a fantastic place to stay! Am a bit reluctant to tell anyone about it because it is such great value for money. Plenty of space for two very large teenagers who would have liked a few English channels on the huge t.v. though.
Great breakfast and the staff were incredibly helpful when we had to catch a train before breakfast to Cologne....they packed us a lunch instead! Could never see this happening in Australia. Great location and very easy to get to from Berlin Hauptbahnhof even with the rail works and having to catch a bus. Lots of shopping close by with great supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants. We were a bit concerned about the bars below and across the road, but we never heard any noise from the front room. Love the orange!!! We WILL be back.

This time I stayed in my favorite city for 5 nights. I travelled alpne and wanted to get the feeling that i actually was a 'Berliner.' This guesthouse was perfect. Right in the middle of Prenzlauer Berg, nearby Kastanienallee and Mauerpark. Right were I wanted to be. The room was small but comfortable, quiet and clean. Nothing fancy. And most of all not expensive.
Three minor disadvantages. 1. WiFi only connected in the hall way. 2. There is no official reception. If you arrive before 4pm nobody can help you (this is stated on the website but I find it still not very customer friendly) and 3. They charge a obligatory breakfast. It is only 5 Euro's a day but in a city like Berlin I like to go outside and eat my breakfast.
Highly recommended!
