“Lovely place to stay in Berlin if you don't like the hotel atmosphere”

Ackselhaus is a nice hotel in Preunlauerberg. We chose this hotel cause looked very pretty on the picture and because of the area..still city center, nice and quiet, convenitently located to all the rest of the city thanks to the U Bahn.
What Ackselhaun mostly features is a one of a kind structure that doesn't give it the proper feeling of a hotel but more like apartments. So if you don't like the "hotel" life it is the perfect place.
You enter in a lobby (non operation 24h but they were so nice to wait our arrival by 23.30) and then you get into a beautiful garden that brings you to some rooms on garden floor and then up with the elevator to other rooms. It is very quiet and perfect if you want relax.
It is conveniently located 5 min walk from the U Bahn (senefelder strasse) and if you like something to eat or drink, very closeby there is kastanienallee full of pubs, fast food, cozy restaurant and typical nice stores. We decided not to have breakfast included cause the price of 25 euro per person looked too much. But don't worry: walking through Kollowitzstrasse you'll find a lot of cafes. If i may suggest Anna Blume is one of the most delicious. Also another good place right close to the U bahn stop (senefelder strasse) is LPG Biomarkt. it is a biological supermarket that has also a cafeteria where prepare coffee and pastries. it is a cheap and fast solution..
Talking about the rooms, i admit they're stunning. We stayed in the one called honeymoon. It is more an apatment than a room.. There was a kitchen, a bathroom, a big bedroom and a second room with a comfortable sofa and a drawer. the theme of the apartment was the honeymoon so it was fully of romantic details: from the curtains to seclude the bed area by the rets of the room, to the lamps, the flower theme wallpaper.
I must admit it was one of the best stays ever in a romantic ambiance, cosy and full of atmosphere... perfect for a romantic getaway!

“Very charming but a few issues.....”

This is a very charming hotel in a lovely area.As we stayed here in October I can not tell anything about the small garden as it was not possible to use it because of the weather.
We had an apartment no 301.At first sight very nice but we did had a few issues. The toilet was very "smelly" and I mean not in a nice way.The telephone in the room was not working and freeze was not clean. We did pay 260 € for the apartment so I think it should have been better!A good thing about the hotel were the lovely breakfast and the very CHARMING area the hotel is placed in:-)

“Excellent location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 July 2010

We spent three nights at the Ackselhaus and it is in an excellent location. It is located in a great area which is fast becoming a sought after neighborhood in what was East Berlin. The area is trendy with lots of great restaurants.

First, there is no air condition and it was about 35 degrees when we were in Berlin so it was very uncomfortable. The Blue House (the sister hotel) was full and from what I gather this is a better choice. Our room was actually very large with a kitchen and sitting area. The bathroom is clean with a shower, toilet, and sink. Nothing too special. During the weekend, our room was very quiet but as soon as Monday arrived the noise was terrible starting at about 4am with the delivery truck arriving at the corner store. This was the Venice room I think they called it (facing the street).

Breakfast is included and it was excellent. Lots of choice with fresh jams, breads and an assortment of cereals, eggs and pretty much whatever you wanted. The service was very friendly.

The value is good and I think we would consider staying here another time but we would definitely want to choose another room. Proximity to the train and buses is excellent.

“Outstanding !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2010

Although the location may not be perfect, the Club/Hotel is. Great design (may be the
English flower fabric is a bit much) , delightful service, beautiful roof-top terrace, spacious and comfortable rooms. I stayed at all of the deluxe hotels in Berlin over the years but would only go back to the Soho Club. Great place, great people !

“Excellent hotel, excellent service, excellent location”

I have to say I feel extremely lucky to have found the Ackselhaus/Blue Home. It was in a perfect location, central to most sites, and the neighborhood itself was chock-full of great restaurants and shops and beautiful parks. The breakfasts served at the Cafe Del Mar, attached to the Blue Home, were fantastic. We went to bed every night anticipating breakfast the next morning. Fresh pastries, breads, cheeses, meats, everything you could hope for and more. We stayed in one of the apartments in the Blue Home and it was better than we expected. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anybody visiting Berlin. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. I will be staying at Ackselhaus/Blue Home every time I visit Berlin!
