“Good location, little pension, great place to stay in Berlin.”

We stayed just for one night at this little pension in July, but we will definitely stay there again when will go back to Berlin. The room was clean, spacious, renovated, the staff friendly - the older man was not able to speak English, but the young lady was helpful and tried to explain everything and make our stay easier.
The location was great, close to city centre and walking distance to U Bahn and S Bahn. Good value for money.

“NOT SERIOUS!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 April 2011

I contacted by phone the hotel and asked for the availibility of a double room for the period I needed...they answered affirmatively and asked me to send an e-mail telling they would have replied in the afternoon. I then booked my FLIGHT COUNTING ON the reservation. In the afternoon they replied telling that no room was availible!!! I asked for explanations and they replied that a person had booked in the meanwhile!!!!
REALLY NOT SERIOUS!!!

“Wonderful! Hidden Gem! Coming from a non-backpacker kind of tourist!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

My heart was so touched by my experience here that even a year later I think about this place and needed to write about it!

I absolutely LOVED this little Pension. It was my first time ever staying at a place that was not a "nice" hotel - mainly because I am afraid of scary, dirty surroundings. My husband loves to rough it, but me... not so much.

I was immediately put at ease of any concerns as soon as I walked through the door. The building is old, very old, and full of character. Beautiful - heigh ceilings, lovely atmosphere.... obviously renovated; not the best job ever but who really cares?

The "staff" - didn't speak English but were helpful and sweet. I use quotations since they is no concierge or anything - maybe a "caretaker" is a better term?? The building was maintained with a lot of LOVE, that was easy to tell. Immaculate!

We had a room with a private bathroom; it was great. Clean, bright and taken care of. Watch out, it IS slippery! The rooms were super clean, with a wall-mounted flat screen TV! BBC world news!

The one down side was that our room was literally connected to the kitchen, so during breakfast time we could hear everyone! Breakfast ended at 10 am, and being jet-lagged, it was easy to stay in the room and leave after everyone was gone.

We chose NOT to purchase breakfast, but from what we saw it was very basic - but certainly edible. The staff was up at 5:00am every day getting ready.

EVEN with this little annoyance, our experience here was wonderful.

Walking distance to the S-Bahn/U-Bahn and to many restaurants along cobble stone roads...

Highly recommend it! Left with wonderful memories and I absolutely be back when we visit Berlin again!

Room Tip: Request to NOT have the room at the kitchen :)

“A great place to stay in a quiet neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 October 2009

Our group of 3 stayed at the Pension Al Vita, after looking at numerous other options in Berlin. It was in a residential area of Berlin in a quiet neighborhood, and within a 15-20 minute walk of the train station. The close proximity to local eating establishments was also good, and we were able to sample an authentic local taste in atmosphere. It will help you if you know a little German to interact with the hotel staff, but we managed without too much difficulty. Our room was spacious and roomy, with plenty of room to relax and unwind from a long day.

Would definitely stay here again!

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2009

The young lady during day shift is awesome and wonderfully helpful. Unfortunatly, the evening staff does not speak english, so we had a rough check in. The Bathroom was akward and my boyfriend hit his head on the door on more than one occasion. Location is great though, close to a U train and an S train.
