First thing is first - there's no mention of the words "Agon Frankfurter Allee" ANYWHERE. You're looking for an "Ibis Styles" hotel on a pink building that leads through into a courtyard.
The hotel was warm and clean, run by very friendly English-speaking staff that were always happy to help us find places to go and things to see (including printing off little maps and highlighting the night life, which was a nice touch). There is free Wi-Fi throughout the building, and the breakfast cost 8 euro. Nice and convenient, but you can get it cheaper on the main road from one of the hundreds of shops.
The room selection was the only thing that dropped the 5 star to a 4 - they do NOT do double rooms, despite what you may read or book. They do twin rooms with the beds pushed together, and a duvet stretched on top. Couples beware :) We ordered a twin and got given one of these - not ideal. They swapped our room
The rooms were warm, with plenty of power sockets and under-floor heating in the bathroom. The showers were lovely and hot too. Despite the leaflet in the room stating that there were HD televisions, we had one that looked about 20 years old.
The area is quiet but not dead - always people about and you feel safe walking at night. The nearest station is a U-Bahn, Samaritestrauss, which is literally two minutes walk from the hotel. Takes ten minutes to get into the main city, and costs 7 euro for an all day ticket.
I would definitely stay here again. Berlin is fantastic, and the people at the Agon (if it's still called that) only add to that.
