Unlike many of the reviews we found the Agon Franke hotel to be just right for our needs. It was close to the main thoroughfare and convenient for buses and trains.

Staff were courteous and helpful. The breakfast was excellent. The room was reasonably small but quite adequate and the bathroom appeared to be brand new.

It was a pity there was no lounge but this is expected when paying this price for a hotel. no complaints at all

This hotel is situated a mere five minutes from Adenauerplatz underground station, from where all parts of this great City are easily accessible. The hotel is clean, rooms are adequately furnished and towels and bedlinen regularly changed. Breakfast is excellent, and the staff accommodating, especially as we required an earlier breakfast then normal on our last day.
Kurfurstandamm is a stroll away and offers plenty of places to eat; I recommend the Turkish Restaurant, "Tugra', which serves delicious, reasonably priced food in tasteful surroundings. Francucci's serves very good pizzas but beware the hidden 25% cover charge!!
I would recommend this hotel, and this location to anyone on a modest budget.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. The staff was nice. The main problem with the rooms were the beds that weren't very comforetable.
The way we see it, the main problem with the hotel was the location that while it is close to busses and subway station, at nights, when the frequency of those goes down, it becomes a husstle to leave the hotel and go out.

We needed two rooms, and booked the hotel due to the very low fees proposed. The first reviews were OK. After the booking we read very discouraging reviews that made us doubt our decision. We were glad we took the chance. The hotel is old, yes, but clean. The windows were new, insulating well from the cold and the little traffic from the street. At least two floors and the breakfast area were smoke-free. The breakfasts were OK and abundant. Personnel were helpful.
No need to worry. Very good value for money here. Comparing it to a 3-star hotel from London, this is FAR better.
Tips to walk less: To get here from the airport, get off at U-bahn Adenauerplatz and take the bus 110 towards U-Oskar-Helene-Heim one bus stop to Hochmeisterplatz.
