“Basic, but spacious and affordable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 November 2011

We stayed in the Agon Franke Berlin in October 2011 for 2 nights.

Rooms were a little dated, however, we're spacious enough (and we're travelling with a LOT of luggage)! Rooms we're also clean and tidy, and the reception staff quite helpful!

Short walk to one of the main shopping streets in Berlin, and not too far from a metro stop, which makes everywhere in Berlin fairly accessable! Hotel is in a fairly quiet residential street, so no noise which you can get by staying a little more centrally.

We booked the hotel in advance via Easytobook.com and received a very good rate for our room. If required to pay the full rate, this might seem a little pricey for fairly basic sort of hotel, so try and book early!

Would recommend to travellers visiting Berlin, but probably wouldn't want a long stay as the walk to and from the main areas gets a little frustrating after a few days.

Room Tip: Book in advance to try and secure a better rate

“Agon Franke”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Hotel in an easy walking distance from nearest u-bahn - needed a walk after a hearty breakfast. We were given a room on the 6th floor and upon opening the door we were knocked back by the smell of cigarettes, even with the window open it was unbearable. The lady on reception (who was smoking in the office) came out and gave us a new room on the 2nd floor without hesitation which was a much brighter, tidier room.
There is a traditional German bar/restuarant on the corner on the way to the U-bahn called Xantener Eck, we had 2 delicious meals in there and sampled differant German beers, well worth a visit. All in all we had a nice time, the breakfast was well organised and plentiful even when we got there half an hour before serving times ended every morning.

Room Tip: The rooms on the lower floors seem to be better decorated and smoke free!

“Good location for a weekend break”

Our first visit to Berlin, and the Franke was easy to reach on the 110 bus from Tegel airport.
Clean and comfortable with a good shower, we were also pleased to have a free safe in the room. Staff friendly and helpful. We too recommend the buffet breakfast as good value for 8 euros. Only downside was some street noise on Saturday night.
Easy to find public transport, U-bahn and buses, at Adenauerplatz a few minutes walk away.Get a Berlin Welcome Card if you plan to stay a few days, for travel and discounts.
Nearby Xantener Eck bar and restaurant serves great German food.

Room Tip: Request non-smoking

“Value for the money”

This is a simple hotel with a good location. The U-Bahn (underground) station Adenauer Platz is only a 5-minute-walk away. There is a Lidl and a Netto (cheap supermerkets) plus a beakery in a 5-minute-walking distance.
The breakfast buffet is really good, lots of different kind of breads, sausages, cheese etc.
You can reach the city center (Mitte) by the U-Bahn in about 40 minutes.
The rooms are clean and well furnished and the service is excellent.

“Affordable and welcoming hotel in great location.”

The Hotel Agon Franke in Berlin is a wonderful hotel for its star rating and price range. The location is perfect with only a 10 minute walk from Charlottenburg S-Bahn station and it is located in a quiet part of the city just off the shopping street of Kurfurstendamm.

The staff were welcoming and there is 24 hour service on the reception desk and a safe in the room. The rooms are fairly basic but were very clean and are cleaned everyday.
