“Suited us down to the ground”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2009

Very handy location, near to U-bahn lines 2 and 7, also walking distance to S-bahn line. Airport bus 109 from Tegel Airport stops on the corner of Bismarkstrasse. All of which makes the apartment and Berlin very user-friendly.
The room was a good size, bathroom compact but with a great shower. Didn't cook but there were four electric rings and an oven ,the fridge was fantastic with a small icebox. Breakfast was continental and unlimited.
The area has some great bakeries, a good shopping arcade and supermarkets e.g. Lidl; Kaiser's, also good fast food stalls and outlets. Try the Pizza place around the corner, freshly made pizza at 1130 on a Sunday night delicious!
Would come back here if we returned to Berlin, especially for an event at the Olympic Stadium.

“Excellent value and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2009

Excellent overall. Short-stay apartments seem to be very popular in Germany, and it worked well for us. The check-in machine sounded daunting but was very easy – just key in your surname, press “Go” or something and the machine delivers your key and receipt. There is a lift but be aware that a few steps are also involved. Open-plan room, kitchen equipment etc. perfectly adequate, but bathroom was cramped – reaching the loo-roll holder required the flexibility of a contortionist, but no big deal. The only niggle was the one mirror in the bathroom and nowhere else. Sounds trivial but with two of us the lack of any other mirror proved a bit of a pain. Very peaceful at night, partly because our room was at the back and partly because it was a quiet area, despite being near a pedestrianised shopping centre. Very adequate breakfast in breakfast room located round the corner – just don’t expect bacon and eggs. Location is within easy reach of the U-Bahn (Underground, including a line going direct to Schoenefeld airport, bar a short bus journey at the end). If you want you can walk to the centre through the Tiergarten in half an hour or so. Also very handy for the Olympic Stadium.

“Good base for a stay in West Berlin”

These self catered apartments are within a serviced building (with lift) in Wilhermsdorf and close to Charlottenburg and with good access to the major attractions via U2 and U7 U Bahn.

Clean, modern and surprisingly spacious the apartment had a small kitchenette (hob, oven, kettle, coffee maker and a selection of untensils crockery etc. The bathroom was compact with shower. There is satellite TV with a range of European channels although only BBC World and CNN in English. Breakfast could be taken in a small salon round the corner for an additional charge but we chose to cater for ourselves.

The building is close to a major shopping street and centre with a good range of takeaways and supermarkets, however there weren't that many bars and good restaurants close by. However the proximity to Charlottenburg and Ku Dam and the good transport links meant that our enjoyment of the local specialities and more international cuisine was not spoiled. (check out Breuhaus Lempke close to the Schloss Charlottenburg for fantastic local specialities and brewed on the premises beers!)

Staff were pleasant and helpful although they are only on duty Mon - Fri 1000 - 1800. There is an out of hours service and key pick up at the front of the building in many languages however.

All in all a good choice for a week's city break.

“Excellent value for money”

Although the room's price was a lot higher on the hotel's website, we managed to book the room for for 40 eur through ----
There was only one review of the hotel on tripadvisor so we were a bit uncertain about whwt we were getting ourselves into. But when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised.
The hotel (or should I say the appartments building) was about 7 minutes walk from the underground station.
We arrived after midnight so the reception was closed. They have a check in mashine outside the building though where you put in your surname and it gives you your room key. And if you have any trouble there is a direct telephone that connects you with someone who can help. But everything went ok.
The inside of the building is clean, new wallpaper but you can tell this is an old building.
The room was spotless. Wooden floors, new furniture , confortable beds.
The room was big enough, there was a tv,a hi-fi and a telephone plus a plug for our notebook . The kitchen was clean, comfortable and equiped with everything we needed to prepare a meal, pots and pans, glasses, plates, cutlery etc .The was also a coffee maker and a kettle. There are a lot of mini markets around the hotel for our everyday shopping.
The bathroom was new and clean also . A bit small but confortable enough.
We even had our own little balcony.
Bear in mind that this is not a hotel, so the cleaner only comes once a week. There is no breakfast but if you want you can order breakfast to be delivered to your room in the morning for 6,5 eur per person. We never ordered though as we always prepared our own. There is also a laundry service but we never used it.
All in all we had an excellent time. I would definatelly recomend this hotel, especially if you are lucky enough to book it as cheap as we did.

“Self-catering in style”

City Residence is in fact a small complex of one and two room serviced apartments. The main entrance is off a private quadrangle. The complex is well maintained and clean - our apartment was spotless!

Our apartment was spacious and well appointed and would suit both tourists and business visitors alike. Furnishing were to a high standard and the apartments would be suitable for informal business meetings, too.

Although there was no on-site restaurant each apartment includes a kitchen area and there are shops and several inexpensive supermarkets close-by.

Our bathroom was compact (but not cramped) and easily up to 4 star hotel standards

Self-service laundry facilities are available in the basement.

The complex is only 3km from the city centre and well located for underground/tram/bus connections.

Also: Sat-tv; hi-fi/radio; direct dial phone plus separate direct dial fax/modem line; card-activated safe; mailbox.

Conclusion: A comfortable alternative for the independent price conscious traveller. Excellent rates for long-stay guests.
