the hotel is a bit oldy and really would need a lifting... old carpet, old room furniture, but clean bed sheets.
the bathroom is a bit clinical and the water in the shower is turning from hot to cold without explanation....

We liked the hotel. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, the buffet breakfast varied and generous and the beds comfortable. The room could do with a wee spruce-up and the shower temperature was uncomfortably variable. Despite that, I can't fault what we got for the price we paid and the location is super - only a hop and a skip from the nearest underground, close to shops, bars, banks and restaurants and a good base from which to explore Berlin.

This was a brilliant hotel which was really good value for money. It is the perfect location for a trip to the city, really close to all the shops, the underground station and lots of restaurants. The hotel was extremely clean and looked very nice. The staff were extremely helpful! I would recommend it to anyone! I stayed with my friend, we are both in our early 20's and would definitly stay here again.

As with a previous reviewer, we stayed there over the New Year weekend. Booked a triple room, which turned out to be a standard twin with an extra bed squeezed in. Not really a problem as we only used the room to wash, sleep and stow our gear.
The hotel is a fairly standard 3-star with pleasant helpful staff. Breakfast was quite good, find a table and a smiley waitress instantly appears with pot of coffee. I've seen bigger selections but all the usual items are available, even a 'make your own waffle' machine.
The hotel bar seemed a bit pricey, but there's a bar directly across the street which opens late (although it can get a little smoky in there).
The nearest tube station (Wittenbergplatz) is only 200m from the hotel, and is probably the best way to get around the city. There are single trip, day/multi-day and group tickets available so do your research.
Another 50m and you're outside the KaDeWe (advertised as Germany's biggest department store). Well worth a look. There are many other shops along this road too, and the Xmas market and lights made for a pleasant sight after dark. The Europa centre is an amiable shopping mall; the basement holds a large Irish bar with nightly live music, though their prices are on the high side. The area felt perfectly safe and there are a number of good Italian restaurants/bistros scattered around. The famous Berlin zoo is also close by.
