Much has been written here about the stairs and odd lift. If you can manage this, it is a very comfortable,well-sited and relatively reasonably priced hotel. Our room was large, quiet, and well-appointed. The location is excellent; first-rate restaurants and shops are everywhere, and trams to/from the airport [and other places] stop just up the street on a 21/7 schedule. As well, the nearest subway stop is less than a block away. If you are a walker, as I, you will find it convenient and interesting. It took awhile for the staff to warm up, but once they did, they were genial and helpful. Following a 6-night stay, we had an early plane from Tegel and the kitchen staff prepared us a breakfast at 0500, gave us a "snack bag" to carry along on the flight, and coffees to carry along to the tram. Using the room phone for anything beyond Berlin is difficult, and there is no computer for guests to use. There are pay phones and internet cafes in the neighborhood. Across the street is an excellent Sicilian restaurant and on the reverse side of the block are two fine Berlin-style restaurants.
