Hotel is nothing fancy, very clean, warm room (stayed in December) and similar size to most European city hotels, comfortable bed, adequate shower with plenty of hot water and everything worked without leaks. Staff courteous but not overly friendly, breakfast expensive for what there is but a coffee shop on Ku'Dam had excellent pastries, muffins, sandwiches, and breads plus great coffee and it was literally a four minute walk so while my wife showered I went out for breakfast to go. All transportation (U-bahn, bus, rail) is within two blocks as is the Zoo train station, zoo, aquarium, KaDeWe, Karstadt, and a tremendous selection of restaurants from touristy to quaint local serving very good food. We have stayed at this hotel three times out of five trips to Berlin in the last eight years and find it meets all our needs. There are fancier places, but we go to Berlin for the city, the people, the culture and events, the history that exists here. It is one of our favorite destinations and we usually visit during the fall/winter season so as to avoid the tourist hordes and take advantage of the Christmas events and markets. Don't miss Treptow Park, an emotional experience and not usually found on the "do not miss" lists in the guide books.
