We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and were overall satisfied. The hotel is located in the south-east of Berlin and can be reached by the S-bahn line or with the bus M41 from the main train station in about 40 minutes. The hotel itself is on the river Spree, is modern on the outside but has a rather older look in the inside.
Check in was fine, and the receptionist could answer all of our questions and was friendly. Our room was on the 1 “Flügel” with a nice view on the city. The room has modern furniture, a lot of lighting, and was quite big. The room was clean, but the bathroom.. hair from the previous stay and some yellowish spots on the toilet seat! Unfortunately there was no safe in the room. International channels did not work, and when we pointed this out at the reception they said they are aware of this problem since a long time, but nothing has been done: no alternative was offered to us. In addition, a sign on the window says that the windows should not be opened beacuse of flys and a spiders, I guess it is also to save energy on heating..but are the rooms ever areated?
Breakfast could have been somehow better. The first day, we had breakfast on the lower part of the hall and it was kind of confusing: a lot of people, waitresses running around just collecting plates, and the buffet itself had no real structure. On the second and third day, breakfast was moved to their “Orangerie” on the higher part of the hall, and it was somehow better: less people, and overall less confusion. Breakfast was mainly DIY as not even coffee or tea is brought at your table.
Concierge was also helpful, and we could buy our 3-day card for the public transportation and they gave us tips for our trip.
Parking costs 15 euro per night and internet 3 euro per hour.
