“Superior Service, poor location”

The Service in this hotel is better than in most expensive 5 Star hotels! They went above and beyond in every situation. We travelled with a small child and a dog, and allthough both were the only ones there, they made both feel welcome. The room was comfortable, clean and very modern. Only the bathroom was a bit outdated. The only bad thing is the neighborhood. It is not very central and does not seem very safe. They do, however, have a nice parking garage for 15 EUR a night.

“Conferencing in Berlin”

The hotel is big and the conference areas are good. The food is very good.

The rooms are modern. The beds are on the hard side, very hard even.

The cancellation policy is crazy, 28 days or no refund. Extremly expensive if you need to change uoyr reservation somewhat as i had to.

Internet is "free" only in teh lobby. Romms have no wireless and wired internet is extremely expensive 24 Euro per day.

The area is not nice at all. I would not recommend this hotel. Sorry

“Nice rooms and friedly staff, but miserable place to stay”

We attend te Estrel every year for a Trade show. My strongest advice is if you can avoid actually staying here then do so. The staff are excellent and the rooms are well appointed, but this is probably the most souless place you will ever visit. It has to be said that the conditions of the rooms can be quite variable. This year the shower is broken and due to the volume of attendees here, they are not able to move me to a new room, nor seemly repair the shower.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms that face inwards in the hotel, as they overlook the bar meaning you will get no sle...

“Modern rooms, friendly staff..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights, and were overall satisfied. The hotel is located in the south-east of Berlin and can be reached by the S-bahn line or with the bus M41 from the main train station in about 40 minutes. The hotel itself is on the river Spree, is modern on the outside but has a rather older look in the inside.

Check in was fine, and the receptionist could answer all of our questions and was friendly. Our room was on the 1 “Flügel” with a nice view on the city. The room has modern furniture, a lot of lighting, and was quite big. The room was clean, but the bathroom.. hair from the previous stay and some yellowish spots on the toilet seat! Unfortunately there was no safe in the room. International channels did not work, and when we pointed this out at the reception they said they are aware of this problem since a long time, but nothing has been done: no alternative was offered to us. In addition, a sign on the window says that the windows should not be opened beacuse of flys and a spiders, I guess it is also to save energy on heating..but are the rooms ever areated?

Breakfast could have been somehow better. The first day, we had breakfast on the lower part of the hall and it was kind of confusing: a lot of people, waitresses running around just collecting plates, and the buffet itself had no real structure. On the second and third day, breakfast was moved to their “Orangerie” on the higher part of the hall, and it was somehow better: less people, and overall less confusion. Breakfast was mainly DIY as not even coffee or tea is brought at your table.

Concierge was also helpful, and we could buy our 3-day card for the public transportation and they gave us tips for our trip.
Parking costs 15 euro per night and internet 3 euro per hour.

“Convenient if you attend conference/exchibition”

I stay every year in this hotel. It is good and big hotel, rooms are nice. There is a good choice of hotels in Berlin, so would not recommend this hotel for tourists. Mainly because there's not much in the vicinity of the hotel, so you will be commuting fair bit to any of the city's attractions. But if one attends a function inside hotel it is a great place to stay, albeit priced on the high side .
