I don't have any real complaints with this hotel, nor do I have anything fabulous to say about it. It does what is required of a hotel room, nothing more, nothing less.
First of all, our room was huge. We were in 127, and it had a double bed AND two fold out couches. So we could've been six staying in that room, but there were only two of us. There was a lot of empty space, and it was so big, it is obvious the maids cut corners. There was dust on the said couches, and on the lamps. I don't know why we were given this room, maybe they thought we wanted to do ballroom dancing in it? Would've been fine for a family of 4, but really two big for us. The bathroom was small, but that is to be expected in Europe, and it was enough that we could turn around without hitting anything. However, we had a broken toilet-paper dispenser that never got fixed, and the shower took ages to empty (by the end of a normal 7-minute shower, you had water up to your ankles). On the bright side, the bathroom sink was dripping on our first day, and it was changed right away.
The location of the hotel was fine, though not exceptional. There were a few nice restaurants in the area (Highly recommend Santini, which is on Kurfürstendamm, west of the hotel, just past the Adenauer U-bahn). Acess to U-Bahn was fairly easy, but you had to change trains several times, depending on where you wanted to go. Zoologischer Garten is a good 20-25-minute walk away. What was particularly useful for us is that the bus to Tegel airport was only on the corner.
Breakfast is very nice. Large selection of pretty much everything (bread, cheese, meat, fruit, yogurt, eggs, juice, coffee, cereal). It was very pleasant to eat there in the morning. The breakfast room is on the top floor, and there are wide windows on most sides, so it's very bright, and you can see the neighborhood.
Wireless is available in the hotel, but you have to pay for it (which we didn't). There are also two computers that are free of charge in the lobby, but beware, they are old and slow, and using Linux. It was a pain to work with them for longer than two minutes, and one obstinately closed the internet browser for no reason while I was reading my e-mails several times. But at least it's free, and you can still do a quick check in if you need to.
Overall, an average hotel that I don't regret booking, as it was decent and we slept well. However, I will try somewhere else when I return to Berlin.
