“Great Family Hotel; Best Breakfast Ever!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

This hotel is owned by the manager, therefore it has great service and he takes pride in his establishment. He was always willing to help. In addition, one of the best things was the wonderful buffet breakfast, included in our stay. It had the biggest selection of any on our travels throughout Germany and central Europe. Pretty little dining room too. The rooms here are not large and there was no air conditioning. It was located in a very good area, though, to walk to many places. Park was nice across the street. Grocery store just a half block away along with restaurants. All in all, a very nice place, and great value. Would definately stay again, just not at the warmest time of the year.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a room on the lower floors if you are traveling in the summer.

“Just returned from a fantastic stay here.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2011

Staff are more than willing to explain travel arrangements around the city, rooms are extremely comfortable and spotless with towels changed daily. The breakfast has a fantastic selection to choose from to set you up for the day. TOP TIP. Purchase 72 Hour travel ticket for use on trains buses and underground.

“Great hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

I stayed here whilst i was on a school trip with my History pupils over the st Patricks day break. On a school trip i expected a very basic hotel, but this was not the case. I cant compliment this hotel enough and would certainly consider staying here if i return to berlin on a short trip. The hotel staff were all very helpful, so much so they accomodated us with rooms at 5 in the morn when we werent even expected until 8 that morning.

The rooms were large and the beds were confortable, with snug quilts. The bathroom was excellent, we were in a room that was for disabled access as well so it was a wet room which was great.

The hotel was a short walk from the subway which was really handy and made our trour around berlin so easy. The tickets can be bought from the hotel and are very cheap. 15 euro for 5 ppl for 24 hours. The best thing about this hotel however was the amazing breakfast. A very extensive contential breakfast, including hot food as well. I looked forward to my breakfast every day.

The manager or owner not sure which, was more than helpful and very friendly. Any request was accomodated with ease. A great hotel.

“Basic, convenient hotel with excellent breakfast”

We stayed at Tiergarten during the New Year's Holidays. We were two families with young children ,ages 7 to 9 . The first thing you realize is that the hotel is in an excellent location : the bus stop as well as the metro station are in a range of 3-5 min walk . Our rooms were in the front part of the building and with the windows closed at all times they were very quiet and warm. They were also very spacious, but looked a bit "old" despite the attempt to give a modern look in the decoration. The best thing about this hotel is the breakfast which is unexpectedly good ! The variety and the quality of the breakfast buffet could easily compete with those of a higher class hotel . Overall, I would say that Hotel Tiergarten is average. However, it is an excellent choice if your plan is to have a good breakfast and then spend all your day walking around Berlin .

“Excellent stay!”

I stayed here with my parents and young adult daughter for 3 nights. We had a large room with 2 double beds. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed conversations with a man who I believe was the owner (?).
The hotel is on a busy street in Berlin so was not quiet, but we were so tired every night we didn't notice the street noise (our room was on the street side). Breakfast was FANTASTIC! There are many restaurants located within walking distance. We enjoyed an Italian restaurant called Promo on Dortmunderstrasse but our favorite food was at a little Turkish cafe located across the street in the Kleiner Tiergarten. Exiting the door of the hotel, turn left. Turn right at the first light (Stromstrasse) and cross Alt-Moabit Street. About 1/2 way to the next light you will see a little cafe on your right. It's called Am Park or something like that. The service was slow, but the food was worth the wait.
