My husband and 4 year old daughter stayed here in mid Dec 2011. The hotel room was very big with plenty of room for an extra bed (no extra charge) and still loads of room. Nice corner area with sofa and chair so we could eat of our take out currywurst and ships. Bathroom was huge. We did not have breakfast at the hotel (a little expensive) and we found a little cafe on the right out of the hotel over the road that did breakfast and the 3 of us ate for the price of 1 at the hotel. Also on that road is a great Austrian restaurant called Ottenthal which even on a Sunday was packed so best to book.
Under the train arches was a nice italian restaurant. There is also a big supermarket between the hotel and the Zoo S Bahn that was open on Sundays too.
The hotel is near to the Zoologische Garten U and S Bahn and the Uhlandstrasse S Bahn. Our visit was mostly for the Xmas markets and there was one within walking distance of the hotel near to the Zoo.
Ask for the code for wifi at reception - access was free.
Would recommend.

Stayed for 4 night before X-mas, to visit Christmas markets and do som shopping.
Very nice hotel, loved the sigarbar and the nice staff, and also the room was nice and big, even if it could do with some upgrading. Location perfect for us, close to bus, S- and U-bahn, with som really nice shops and restaurant/bars near by. Will return next time in Berlin!

We enjoyed this hotel with genuine charm and with very nice and helpful staff. The cozy smoking bar with a lot of drinks was something we valued. If you don´t smoke you can have the drink in the lobby or in the resturant. Our room was big and clean with comfortable beds and the bathroom was fancy and luxury. Many international channels on the TV. The restaurant was beautiful with excellent food and wines. We were very satisfied with our 5-night stay at this hotel. This is one of the best hotels we have stayed in and we travel a lot.

I'm just back from another week at the Savoy Hotel and it remains as enjoyable as ever providing a refreshing antidote to the anonymous 'could-be-anywhere-in-the-world' hotels one finds so often. The location is great, the breakfast remains one of the nicest and most civilised, and the staff are, as always, very helpful. Yes, the rooms are not the lap of luxury but they are perfectly comfortable. All the comments I made in my review of August 2009 continue to be valid.
