I was supposed to stay with friends but last minute one was taken ill so had to find a place to stay, all hotels were booked and the ones that were not were not in my price range. Then I found Hotel Bogota and so pleased I did!
I arrived in Berlin early morning (9am) and had the image of having to wait around until 2pm to be able to check in to my room. When I went to the hotel and asked if I could check in immediately at 10.30am the receptionist was extremely helpful and said yes of course.
I stayed in a single room (twin room) with shared facilities which was just fine.
The hotel has an "olde worldy" feel about it, with lots of interesting pictures and books down in the lobby.
I read that the actor Rupert Everett said in 2008 that the Hotel Bogota was "one of Berlin's best kept secrets"
Metro and all buses are within 2 - 5 minutes walk and you can buy your tickets at hotel reception.
Definitely recommend this hotel and looking forward to returning next year as have more work to do in Berlin.

Loved this hotel. Fantastic area which didnt match the hotel rates as they were so reasonable. Rooms themselves were comfortable with decent beds. Breakfasts were great!

I stayed at this hotel for two nights. While the old-style reception area and the 70's carpeting in the halls might throw you at first glance, my room was large, sunny, clean, quiet (looked out onto courtyard) with a completely renovated bathroom.
The staff at the reception were extremely polite and helpful whenever I needed advice or help. They also have a broad selection of drinks and snacks, should you arrive late or just need something to snack on during your stay.
While I did not use the hotel's computer, I did use the WiFi, and I had no problems.
The location is great - just off the Ku'damm and only a few U-Bahn stops from the central station.
There are a number of higher-end dining options along Schlueterstrasse as well as some of the best Lebanese fast-food at Mama Falafel around the corner on Pariserstrasse.
I have stayed at a number of different hotels in Berlin, but this is my favorite because it's neither a chain hotel nor a soul-less modern design hotel. It feels much more like a "home away from home".

Not a nameless chain hotel, but the price needs to be right as mosy rooms do not have a private bathroom. It is resting on its reputation a bit
