In walking distance of checkpoint charlie , topography of terror and berlin wall, all approx. (15 mins) ,museum island (10 mins),Potsdamer Plaza (25mins),Brandenburg Gates (30mins).U2 Spittlemarkt station is a couple of mins. walk from hotel,buffet breakfast 9 euro"s in hotel or a couple of options right facing hotel entrance,for restaurants the Nikolai quarter is a 10 minute walk or 2 stops on U2 line heading in the Pankow direction.There is obviously more illustrious hotels in Berlin but overall taking the location and cost of rooms into considaration this hotel is good value for money.

Used for Christmas Markets, Reichstag and many other sights, we found this both a good location and for a good nights sleep. Bus and Underground literally just around the corner and connect with all areas. Tip, get a daily travel card, bargain, and enables access to all major areas. This hotel is very clean and comfortable, although we thought the breakfast to be overpriced for what was on offer. There is a bakery over the road (not Sunday) which does a quick breakfast at a fraction of the price. There is little choice for an evening meal in the vacinity, but just over the road is what looks like a Tapas only place - it is not - we had a very good meal here at a reasonable price.

Stayed here with my son for 4 nights in early January. Here's a summary of what we found:
1/ Check in easy - very friendly and helpfull staff . I left my jacket behind and they sent it to Munich for me! Complimentary computers x3 in reception area. Bar tacked onto end of reception- good selection of drinks and snacks .
2/ Room- we booked a twin. Good size , very clean, comfortable beds. Appliances were all modern, aircon and satelite TV channels ( 1-2 in english). Bathroom spotless again with modern appliances.No wifi in room only cable- able to get wifi from 3rd floor room by holding phone out the window- worked ok. Rooms cleaned each day.
3/ Breakfast- great buffet style spread for 9 euro. Hot / cold foods, fruit, cerials, desserts, bread/rolls etc. Big seating area with several "rooms" branching off for some privacy. No restaurant at night but a great spanish restaurant across the road and a german one about 3-4 mins walk away.
4/ Transport- U2 Spittlemarkt station only 3-4 mins walk away. Safe area, no problems.Easy to get around even by walking.Cab ride to airport was around 23 Euro.

The Best Western Spittelmarkt is well placed to all the major landmarks in Berlin or within a short stroll to public transport links. The rooms, and the hotel in general, are very clean although the only downside is that there is no WiFi facility. That said, the internet is very fast and connected via an ethernet link. Tea/coffee and kettle are available for free in the lobby and can be taken up to your room for the duration. Breakfast was excellent and catered for all tastes. Should I visit Berlin again, I will make a point of returning to this hotel.
