“Perfect hotel with safety issues”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2011

Just a perfect place. You can tell the owners and / or employees do not just work there to make money.

The breakfast is a surprise, my only worry is fire safety. No smoke detectors (or they are hidden), no second way out, wouldn't know where to go in case of a fire. I do recommomend, but do something with your fire safety!

And thinking about it, another thing is the treats and mini bar. They have Mars bars etc in a basket. My partner was sure they were complemantary. It's was a good thing we didn't eat them because they weren't for free.

“Quality room, and a unique breakfast vault!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2010

Arriving at the hotel by car is a bit fraught, since the entrance is on a fairly busy road and we drove past it twice looking for somewhere to stop before I vaguely remembered where their website tells people to pull into (despite the no parking signs) in order to check in. I suggest that drivers familiarize themselves with this arrangement, by looking at the map on their website, before driving here.

Once we’d paused the car in the small space opposite, I ran across the road to the hotel and checked in with the delightfully helpful receptionist who subsequently directed us around the corner into their private garage space that we had booked.

We had room 12 on the first floor (one floor up), which was smallish but very nicely decorated and well maintained. The furniture was pine, with a wardrobe, two wooden chairs, desk, etc. The television had many channels, including a couple in English such as Sky News. The double bed had two separate mattresses pushed together, and was very comfortable. Electrically operated shutters on the windows kept the light out very well.

The bathroom was beautifully appointed – modern and spotlessly clean, with a very large shower.

Breakfast was a pleasant continental buffet spread presented in a most interesting ‘vault’ setting underneath the hotel. It made for a memorable start to the day.

We only stayed at the hotel for one night, but were really impressed with the quality of the room (especially the bathroom) and the uniqueness of their breakfast room. One other thing to mention were the two receptionists we met (one checking in; one checking out) who were both delightfully charming and helpful, and a credit to the hotel.

We’d recommend this hotel for anybody visiting Wurzburg. It is located only a few minutes walk to the city centre, over the nearby bridge spanning the river. If arriving by car, just do some planning in advance so you know where to pause whilst checking in - and I suggest you reserve a car parking space at 8 Euros a night in their secure garage.

“Great place to stay with few drawbacks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2010

Stayed here in Wurzburg for my friend's birthday weekend and overall, had a good experience.

Things we really liked:
-location: right near the old bridge, close to the fortress, easy to get to
-staff: the bilingual staff was very friendly and helpful, offering free maps, advice about restaurants and attractions and they let us store our luggage after we checked out
-breakfast buffet: lots of selection (breads, cheeses, meats, musli, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, etc.) and the selection wasn't worse if you came later during the breakfast time
-room cleanliness: room especially the shower was super clean
-bathroom: the shower was very nice!
-TV: super big TV with lots of selection but we were too busy touring to use it

Things we weren't thrilled about:
-noise: bring earplugs and you'll sleep fine. The walls are thin so you can hear people walking in the hallway. Also, our room was right on the street so if you're not used to the sound of cars(not a steady stream but there), ask for a room facing away from the street.
-thin curtains: our window was at the same height as the street lamp across the street so our room was constantly light. There are decorative lacy curtains but nothing that darkens the room. This was probably the most disappointing thing. Curtains would be such an easy thing to fix.

Other than that, I'd stay there again as it was very nice and convenient for a short tour around the city. I'd just know to ask for a different room.

“Lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2010

We stayed for 1 night on our way back from Italy. We had a huge room and my daughter was very impressed that she had a proper bed of her own - rather than a pull out sofa, or mattress on the floor. Chocolates on the pillow was a nice touch. Very large flat screen TV on the wall - shame we can't speak German. Staff recommended a restaurant by the river and it was lovely. Despite being on the main road it was quite quiet and we slept well - maybe being a Sunday helped.
Buffet breakfast but plenty of choice and very tasty.
Secure parking available just across the road at 8 Euros.

“Good location, nice staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

This hotel is situated optimally below the beautiful castle Marienburg and close to city center, 5 minutes by foot. And staff is very friendly.
Our double room cost 95 euros inc. breakfast and there was 3 euros extra for a parking spot in front of the hotel. The also had a garage which was 7 euros. The downside was that the room had no air-conditioning. There was a floor fan available but it was so noisy I had trouble sleeping.
Breakfast was nothing special, standard continental.
Wireless internet was free.
