We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while taking a short family holiday to visit Bavaria and its Christmas markets. As we are 6 people (2 adults and 4 children), we opted for the "apartment" which is not really and apartment but two separate rooms with a shared bathroom in the middle. Each room has a separate door and their is a common entrance separating the "apartment" from the hallway. It's really a suite, in the end. The rooms were spacious, clean and silent. Even though the location of the hotel is right on the main road leading to the train station and the pedestrian zone, you wouldn't know it because the windows were very efficient in keeping the noise out. The breakfast is a typical German breakfast, with cold cuts, cheeses, bread, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and juice and suffices to start your day.
Overall, our stay was quite pleasant; the rooms were cleaned daily and the beds were very comfy (I still miss the pillows!) and the cleaning staff always left some "gummibärchen" for the children and even folded our pyjamas for us!
The hotel is quite strategic for travelling by train and visiting Würzburg on foot or by street car. There are numerous restaurants (both typical Franconian and typical fast food) within 5 to 10 minutes on foot.
The only reason I didn't give the hotel five stars is that while the reception upon arrival was very cordial and welcoming the departure was a bit disappointing with the lady at the recpetion simply taking our money and then refusing to print a simple airline reservation check-in confirmation even though her colleague the night before had stated that it would be no problem. At least she let us leave our bags for a bit at the reception after the check-out! It was raining outside and Sunday morning, so I'll chalk it up to a bad day...
In summary, a good hotel with no pretensions but clean, warm and ideally located.
