“Good 3 star hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 December 2011

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while taking a short family holiday to visit Bavaria and its Christmas markets. As we are 6 people (2 adults and 4 children), we opted for the "apartment" which is not really and apartment but two separate rooms with a shared bathroom in the middle. Each room has a separate door and their is a common entrance separating the "apartment" from the hallway. It's really a suite, in the end. The rooms were spacious, clean and silent. Even though the location of the hotel is right on the main road leading to the train station and the pedestrian zone, you wouldn't know it because the windows were very efficient in keeping the noise out. The breakfast is a typical German breakfast, with cold cuts, cheeses, bread, fruit, yoghurt, coffee and juice and suffices to start your day.
Overall, our stay was quite pleasant; the rooms were cleaned daily and the beds were very comfy (I still miss the pillows!) and the cleaning staff always left some "gummibärchen" for the children and even folded our pyjamas for us!
The hotel is quite strategic for travelling by train and visiting Würzburg on foot or by street car. There are numerous restaurants (both typical Franconian and typical fast food) within 5 to 10 minutes on foot.
The only reason I didn't give the hotel five stars is that while the reception upon arrival was very cordial and welcoming the departure was a bit disappointing with the lady at the recpetion simply taking our money and then refusing to print a simple airline reservation check-in confirmation even though her colleague the night before had stated that it would be no problem. At least she let us leave our bags for a bit at the reception after the check-out! It was raining outside and Sunday morning, so I'll chalk it up to a bad day...
In summary, a good hotel with no pretensions but clean, warm and ideally located.

“Location good but no charm!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

Yes directly across from the train station so ideal for a short stay for train travelers as well as walking distance to town center and attractions. Not good "curb appeal" though because a Chinese resaturant dominates the front facade making it look like the hotel entrance is part of the restaurant. There are stairs up to the front door and lobby but good elevator inside to the rooms. The staff is nice and rooms are plain but clean, adequate and very quiet because of double panes. Our bathroom even had a large window on a back courtyard. The price however was too high for the quality and breakfast provided, over 100 Euros for such a charmless place.

“Surprisingly quiet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 September 2011

We stayed here for one night on the last day of our honeymoon. Initially I was worried that it would be very noisy. The proprietor let us see the room and even choose between two of them (the only two left) before booking. With the windows open it was indeed noisy, but they are double paned and if shut they block out the street noise below. There is no AC, so I could see noise being a problem in summer when you need the windows to be open. Unfortunately they had no parking spots left (and there is a fee for the spot), so we ended up parking about eight blocks away. It took us a long time to get back and we were worried that he might have given our room away, but luckily not. The room had Wifi signal and was clean and comfortable. The location is right beside the town's walking tour, which he showed to us on a map, along with numerous restaurant recommendations. Very helpful! We ended up having a romantic meal at Alte Mainmuhle, which was excellent. The room did smell like smoke, but I'm not sure if it was designated as non-smoking or not.

“Do not stay here!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 July 2010

We booked this hotel in February for a July visit to Wurzburg. Unfortunately, our plans changed and we were unable to afford to go to Germany for our planned visit. I called to cancel four months ahead. Yes, four months!!! They already had charged my credit card in full and would not refund my money. (it was not the booking agents) I was happy to be charged a fee for their time of having to go on the computer to refund and etc. Absolutely not! The manager was so rude and unaccommodating. I would have understood if I would have tried to cancel a few days ahead, but a full 4 months! My mother was born and raised in Wurzburg and we have never received such rude treatment from a hotel or restaurant. Go visit beautiful Wurzburg, but do not stay in the Hotel Regina!!!

“Okay but not up to other reviews”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2010

Located conveniently to train station but building isn't as nice as picture portrays it to be. Very small shower with low flow pressure. Sufficient room area but none to spare! Booked a triple and all beds were comfortable Youth Hostel and Chinese Restaurant flank hotel. Liquid soap only. Usual breakfast...cold cuts etc. Lousy pillows. As stated, no air conditioning but windows did open. Noisy during daytime but quite quiet at night. Felt hotel was over-priced. Would recommend due to train station convenience. Not convenient to restaurants. Wifi worked only in office area.

FYI - We measured lockers in a couple of train stations...24 X 18 X 36 inches. Some stations also had smaller lockers.
