There are, if I recall correctly, seven high steps from the street to the reception area and no assisted disabled access.
Storage space in room limited and not a single drawer.
Woefully slow service in restaurant but no criticism of waitresses who worked very hard and were always pleasant. There was only one working for most of the time and from starting one's meal at 7-30pm it took 45 to 50 minutes to be served with the generally very poor main course.
Probably adequate for a late arrival and no evening meal then breakfast (excellent) and travel to next stop.

1. although the bedrooms were generally very good the air conditioning system in them was not.
2. there was only room in the lift for at most 5 people & only 2 if they had suitcases.
3. There was no lounge in the hotel & only 4 seats for guests in the reception area
4.When we asked where the bar was, we were told that there wasn’t one!
5.WORST OF ALL : there was no choice at the evening meal – either take it or leave it. Because of this some of the people on the trip went elsewhere for evening meals on more than 1 occasion. Some of the meals were of poor quality.

We understand that this hotel had already been used by National Holidays on previous occasions & we would be surprised if people on these tours had not brought the problems to the attention of the company.

We have just come back from a weeks stay at this hotel as part of a coach trip with National Holidays first the good points. Nice clean room with a comfortable bed. Good location .Within a few minutes of town centre. They do not have a bar so you have to go elsewhere for drinks. The evening meal was just put in front of us. No choice no description. The first night was a salad then soup ( dishwater with few shreds of veg) main course was meat of some description a salty sauce and potatoes. Dessert was sour fruit with a splodge of cream on top. Next day breakfast was buffet style help yourself. Great choices and plentiful. Evening again no choice just dishes put down in front of you. Chewy meat ( no idea what) overcooked rubbery pasta and peppery sauce. Most people gave up and went next door for pizza or up the road for a traditional dish. I would suggest you go bed and breakfast for your stay then there is no problem. Lots of places to eat very close to hotel.

The Amberger hotel is located near the city center and very close to the Residenz Palace also. It is quite charming in its fashion since it's a small, city center, old hotel. Rooms are rather small in size, with ok bathrooms and the furniture is rather outdated. Of course, being a german 3 star hotel it is rather basic, but clean. We liked our room that was on the street side and had a pretty balcony.
The elevator is quite claustrophobic and the stairs are wooden and squeaky at times.
The breakfast experience is very good, with a large choice of fresh food, both hot and cold.
