Stayed one night at this hotel. It's older and you could call it 'dated'. However, it's fairly typical for a German (Bavarian) hotel. There's the good and the bad - the good first -
Very close to downtown and local sights. Wuerzburg has a tremendous shopping zone with reasonably priced stores, boutiques, day spa services - check out "wax your body", cafes, etc. So it's nice to have a hotel close enough that you can walk to everything worth doing in Wuerzburg. One side of the hotel has nice view of the Schloss, unfortunately, we weren't on that side Shower heads in the bath are very nice, water can get very hot and that's a plus in my book. Small room, but had a small table and 2 chairs, mini bar, water, smallish balcony (but we looked into some type of business across the courtyard and a kitchen??), older fixtures in the bath. When we went out for a walk, we came back and there was a nice table set up with fruit and water waiting for us. The hotel is right on the river which is nice for strolling if the weather is nice and it's close to the boat loading ramps.
Mixed comments but mostly good ones...
The buffet breakfast is extensive. Only problem or complaint I had was that the cucumbers (Gerkins) were so dried out that they were inedible. On the positive side, there is every kind of fruit you can imagine other than bananas. You'll enjo, hot breads, salmon, wurst, cheeses, dozens of cereals and every imaginable topping for your cereal, English breakfast items and more. I read there is an even larger breakfast on Sundays for brunch.
The Italian restaurant is very expensive by Germany Italian restaurant comparison and the Wine Cellar was closed. You can find more reasonably priced restaurants, guesthouses in town and enjoy the locals.
On the negative side...you get the feeling they nickel and dime you to death. Internet is not free although there is a note that you can use the business center to check email if you don't want to pay 8 Euros for 1 hour of connectivity in your room. That was great on Thursday night but Friday morning I had to sign a sheet stating that if I used the business center computer (& there is only one) for more than 30 min, they would charge me 2,50 Euro per hour. OK, that's not expensive but come on... This hotel tries to hang with the big-boys and internet or WIFI shouldn't cost anything. Parking is not free either but you can get a reduced rate if you present your parking ticket at the desk when you check out.
The beds were not comfortable, the pillows definitely weren't and there was a brochure telling us how wonderful the pillows were and apparently you can buy them - Don't. Everything was very clean but it's time to redo the furnishings and decor. Our bathtub had been patched, patched well, but still patched. A hotel of this standard shouldn't have patched up bath tubs. The furniture was scratched. No complimentary lotion was in the room but if you call the front desk, they will bring you some. A word to those who might care - we happened to see the maid at her maid's cart and she was combining partially used shampoo & shower gel bottles. Don't know if those went back into the rooms or not, maybe they don't, maybe she took them home, but it's not something most guests would want to see in my opinion.
The fitness facility is in the basement and is a room about the size or smaller of an American walk-in closet. Only an elliptical machine, stationary bike, and a universal gym (which is pretty nice). It's very claustrophobic.
We'd probably stay there again, but we'd ask for a renovated room, we understand there are some.
