“Lovely quality”

We passed through Wurzburg which is a beautiful town, on our way north at Christmas time. The xmas market was lovely. Beware as the restaurants around this time are all full, however we found one off the square which was excellant and met some locals who shared our table.
A nice touch was a welcome picture drawn and on our room door.
The room we had allowed 2 adults and 2 children which was a bonus as many hotels require a 2nd room for families.
The room had a nice view, heated well in the coldest if winter, had lots of good toiletries. There was a Nespresso machine with lots of cartridges, complimentary water and even a bottle of local wine. Very nice touch.
The bed was one of the best in hotels I have stayed in.
Breakfast was totally sumptous and very good quality- it certainly beat battling the snow to find a cafe.

“What you'd expect from a 4* BW hotel - top quality”

Stayed overnight at the Rebstock, needing last minute accommodation on our way through. Needless to say, the last minute price was high for Wurzburg, but the hotel was top quality. The room was a family attic style room with loads of space, lovely furnishings, a STUNNING view of the Marienberg from my window, modern marble bathroom. Service from the staff was impeccable, they all spoke English and couldn't do enough for us. Excellent stay.

“Great location, great service, lovely room”

We spent just one night at the Rebstock hotel while visiting the Residenz and Fortress Marienburg at Wurzburg (both very worth seeing), and were very happy with our choice. The hotel is centrally located within easy access of all sites and shopping, and is right next to a large parking garage with reasonable rates. The room we had was large and comfortable with pleasant views, and the hotel set up a baby bed in the room at no additional charge. Staff was pleasant and the included breakfast buffet was tasty and served in a lovely central area that felt like an indoor garden. The hotel restaurant looked good, but we chose to eat at a little Italian restaurant across the street (one of 5-10 restaurants VERY close by). It is always special to stay in a hotel that itself is in one of the town's older buildings, and Best Western has done a great job of building a modern hotel within this historic building. Our bathroom was large with tub/shower combo, and the room had many large windows with lots of light. The TV was flat panel and worked well, and there was a mini-bar with very reasonable prices. Overall thought this was 5 out of 5 for a 4 star hotel. If I go back to Wurzburg I will stay here again.

“Rebstock--still a great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2008

This is a terrific hotel, the best on our recent trip to Vienna, Prague and Germany. My brother and sister in law stayed there eons ago and have spoken fondly of it ever since. Based on that I checked it out and found mixed reviews, some suggesting that it was nice but had seen better days. Nonetheless I booked it and it was wonderful. It’s now affiliated with Best Western as one of the Premier properties. It’s directly in the Old Town probably a half kilometer from the Residenz.

Our room was spacious and nicely decorated in modern style with a couch, coffee table and desk besides the bed. The bathroom was very large and had both a tub and a separate walk in shower of some size with terrific “just right” water pressure. There was also a large walk in closet. There were nice little touches everywhere, like a note on the night stand offering delivery of warm milk with honey for anyone having trouble falling asleep.

There was free internet at the reception desk and a lovely included buffet breakfast in an airy atrium-like breakfast room with a growing tree in the middle. Everything you could imagine was offered on the breakfast buffet, even champagne or some German sparkling wine. The cheese plate had a large variety of cheeses all listing their respective “fett” contents. We dined one night at the hotel in their small but lovely dining room and had a very respectable dinner, including perfectly done lamb with a horseradish flavored crust and gratin of potatoes.

Service was both pleasant and prompt as well as competent. We left very early on our final day for a flight and were both given bottles of water to take on our journey. All this for the least expensive stay of our trip—140 euros per night double via an internet booking.

Perhaps there has been some kind of major renovation since the people whose reviews I read stayed at this hotel, but there is no sign of shabbiness or need of renovation at this lovely, well kept, top drawer hotel and I would be happy to find similar lodging at every stop I ever make in the future. If I return to Wurzburg, I will insist on staying at the Rebstock.

  • Liked — Well kept rooms, beautiful breakfast room, tasty breakfast, nice restaurant
  • Disliked — Close to but not right in the middle of the old town.

“Best hotel experience ever.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2008

I just returned from 3 days here and had the best mini-holiday ever. The staff and the facilities are outstanding. Especially the staff. Everybody was happy, helpful and just a pleasure to be around. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and I have never been treated as well as I was here or felt so welcome. The room was good also, one of the cleanest I have ever been in and although small by US standards was very functional and for a single there was plenty of room. The decor was very up to date and tasteful. I worked in the hotel industry for a couple of years so I am always very critical of hotels, not this time. The breakfast bufftet each morning was nice with a variety of foods to choose from, both american and european style and fresh. Wurzburg itself is a great town also, with so many sights and friendly people. I hardly ever used my german phrase book because they all wanted to speak english, from the taxi drivers to the shopkeepers. I will say this is the best holiday spot I have found in years of international travel. There are so many great sights but the two must see places are the fortress and the rezidence. You have to pay the small fee and take the tours these places are just amazing. The beir gartens are great also. The hotel staff can guide your or ask any person on the street. The city is clean and fresh and there are lots of tourist so they are used to questions and everybody was helpful. This is now my favorite place that I have been.

  • Liked — the staff
  • Disliked — the street construction (no control of hotel)
