The rude owner tried to convince us that we had booked a double room, not a room with a double bed. He became quite aggressive and confrontational when we tried to show him our confirmation that we had a double bed, and that the hotels.com website specifically said "Double Bed only" in the room description. He maintained that we had only booked a double room with a Tauber Valley View, despite the fact that such a room type doesn't even exist on the hotel's own website. We got stiffed with a twin bed room for the first night, and then the next day he tried to stiff us with a double bed room WITHOUT a view. It's possible that there was a mistake on hotels.com regarding the room description, but we think it's more likely that the owner was trying to stiff us given his rudeness and completely unprofessional attitude. At one point he tried to convince us to check out and find another hotel, which we weren't willing to do since we had already paid in advance for the room. It was only after I mentioned that we would be writing a negative review of his hotel that he changed his tune, and later told us that we were "absolutely right" regarding our concerns. Unfortunately for him it was too little, too late.

On a positive note, hotels.com did refund us the difference in price between the two rooms.

Stayed here for a couple of nights as part of a touring holiday. The location is good inside the walls of the town and we were able to park opposite. However the rooms and general decor all needs updating. The owner was friendly. Breakfast was the usual continental fare, all fresh but not a huge amount of choice. I am not sure that I would stay here again if I returned to the area.

We stayed one night last week which I booked only a couple of days ahead of time. The main reason for choosing this hotel was location inside the walls of Rothenburg and the free wireless internet. My family of 3 booked a single room on the first floor and a double room on the third floor. There isn't an elevator so don't bring heavy luggage if you're on the third floor because the steps are a little narrow and steep.

My teenage daughter loved the 3rd floor room with a gorgeous view over the Tauber Valley. The rooms are cozy and comfortable. I peeked into one of the triple rooms which also looked very nice. The breakfast buffet was good with the usual meat, cheeses, cereals,yogurts and breads.

The hotel was a good value and we would stay there again.

We have stayed in Hotel Am Siebersturm twice now, the latest trip Sept 09. In July 2008 we stayed in the hotel by chance, this year we went out of our way to visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber and stay in this hotel specifically because we fell in love with it. The location is perfect - in the middle of the city and just a short walk from every attraction in the town. The staff is amazing - they went out of their way to accomidate us and most spoke perfect English. The breakfast includes breads, butter, cheese, meats, veggies, orange juice, coffee, tea, etc. It is a very nice spread and is included in the room. We did not eat a meal at the restaurant, but we did have apple strudel, the best we've had all over Germany. Parking is not a problem if you don't mind walking about 80 meters. The hotel is close to a free parking lot just outside the wall and that was easier for us than driving through the small streets of the town. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The first time we went we stayed on the street side and it was a little noisy in the evening, but nothing we couldn't sleep through. The second time we were on the top floor and didn't hear a thing. We can't wait for our next visit!
