We stayed in nine hotels during our 3 week vacation and rate Hotel Rappen Rothenburg “great” from the perspectives of accommodations (comfortable rooms and beds), and personal interaction (helpful and courteous owner and friendly staff). This was my sixth trip to Europe and my party consisted of my wife, 70 Yr old sister and myself. We rented a car and visited Germany, France, Switzerland and Austria. This was my third visit to the Hotel Rappen and for this trip we stayed the nights of 18 through 20 June 2011. The owner was very accommodating and helpful. Great location, good price, excellent food, elevator, spotless rooms (we stayed in room 280), clean bathroom with private toilet/shower, satisfactory TV with a variety of channels, and friendly staff. The Hotel Rappen’s complimentary continental breakfast was freshly prepared with a variety of Deli meats, cheeses, rolls, great coffee, delicious scrambled eggs, fruit, juices, etc… Hotel is in a great location at one of the gates to the “old town” village and shopping area. Complimentary parking was available on site at the hotel. We had two evening meals in the hotel restaurant and they were of good quality and reasonably priced. We had a great visit here and would not hesitate to choose this hotel for all our future stays! Note: For a change of pace and to experience something different, I originally had reservations to stay at a competitors more expensive “boutique” type hotel directly across the street from the Hotel Rappen. Upon check-in there we discovered that several of the light bulbs in the bedroom and bath were burnt out, TV didn’t work at all, restaurant was closed due to a private function and there was no staff to assist us (they were all working the private function) with any of the issues we had with the room. I finally requested to speak with the manager was greeted with rude and insulting attitude, and was told they would address my concerns the next day. We choose to depart the hotel (in the middle of a rain storm) and returned to our “tried and true” Hotel Rappen.
