If you are planning a trip to Germany make sure you stay in Rothenberg for at least 2 nights (or longer). Then, book a room in this hotel. My girlfriend and I booked the suite at the top of the hotel and it was very romantic. The room was huge and had a very rustic feel to it. The views from the windows were also spectacular as Rothenberg is a very beautiful place. This would be an excellent honeymoon or anniversary suite.

The hotel is on a narrow street, is old, is small, and has steep staircases. It’s the perfect complement to your Rothenburg experience. The rooms all are in a different configuration and comfortable. The help and especially the manager are exceptionally friendly. It has 3 different dining areas and a surprising lively bar in the basement. Our meals were excellent. It is located only a block from the city square and is in easy walking distance of all the main attractions. You can’t go wrong staying here unless you have mobility problems which would make all of Rothenburg a bit of a challenge. We drove straight to the front door with our GSP unit, without one you may need help finding it.

Nice hotel - about 20 minute brisk walk from the train station. Room was very big with 2 double beds and was clean. We had a nice welcoming platter of sweets when we arrived for Christmas. Staff were really friendly and all of the meals were really good. Foyer area was a nice spot to sit and have a drink. Rothenburg is a place we felt would be better enjoyed on a day trip. We walked around for 2 or 3 hours and felt we had seen everything it had to offer. As other reviewers of this place have said Rothenburg ob der Tauber (the old town anyway) is a tourist trap! Hundreds of Asian tourists in tour groups detracted from the medievil charm.

We stayed December 15 - 18, 2011 for Christmas markets. Hotel was wonderful. Large room on third floor up. Very nice bathroom. Hotel is very old and that is the charm. Room was refurbished nicely. Just a warning there is no elevator, but walking up and down was no problem. Erica was so helpful, even carried up a bag. Our room was on the strret side so could look out and see the tower and Christmas lights. Good German breakfast. We had one dinner there as recommended by Rick Steves, was very good. Would stay here again.
