After reviewing many Hotels in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, we chose this hotel because of it's room vacancy for our last minute trip, location, value, and the 'good' reviews on Trip Advisor. The Hotel is in a wonderful location, very close to everything in the city, yet is also very quiet due to it's proximity to the city wall. This was the only perk aside from cleanliness. Upon check-in, after ringing the notification bell, we patiently waited at the front desk for no less than 5 minutes as we hear somebody directly behind the door at the front desk rustling around. They were not in a hurry to greet their tired guests, and certainly if we could hear them, they could without a doubt hear the bell. Once the Hotelier appeared, we were not treated warmly. We felt we were a burden, and did not feel as if we were welcome guests (which was a constant theme throughout our contact with the staff). Our room was very clean, but some of the furniture could definitely use updating, there was also a constant mold smell throughout the room. The breakfast was extra (12 Euros per person) which is pretty steep considering the mediocre buffet breakfast of the usual bread, meat, cheese, jams, muesli. This type of breakfast is usually included IN your stay at most hotels throughout Germany so we felt somewhat cheated out of 24 Euros for this type of spread. Overall- I would not recommend this Hotel, nor would I ever choose this one again. There are many lovely Hotels in Rothenburg, but when you plan a last-minute trip as we did, the choices are slim. Book early- do your research- and look elsewhere!
