This hotel is in a beautiful old structure half a block from the town square and right next door to the famous Christmas Museum and Christmas store. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Our room was quite large, and though it was obviously not decorated recently, it was pretty, charming, and romantic. The bathroom was very big and well-stocked as well, and the bed was comfortable. Best of all, the hotel and room were very, very quiet, even though our room looked out over the street, so it was easy to get a full night’s sleep. And the rate we paid seemed to me to be very reasonable for a historic hotel. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel (unlike many German hotels, breakfast was not included in the room rate), so I can’t comment on that. But I really liked this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Please don't be put off by the poor ratings some have given. The hotel doesn't have AC but most hotels in these old buildings do not. I found the hotel to be very comfortable and really enjoyed the original furnishings including the carpets. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly and the food was fantastic. Coming down the staircase is an experience to remember. I would recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to experiece staying in one of the original mansions on the main street of Rothenburg. I am looking forward to my next stay.

Great service, great location, and great atmosphere...

My friend and I arrived very early and we were given our rooms anyway. What a surprise! We both had a single room. Both rooms were very spacious for European standards. My room was in the back and had a balcony. The location was the best. We walked outside the hotel and we were in the heart of things. The town is beautiful and the people are very friendly. Don't miss the night watchman tour. Go to the plaza at 8pm and he shows up.
